Because Christ is the Alpha and the Omega!

Wow! Is Jesus Christ sovereign over all this and more? The answer is an emphatic yes! After we establish the role of Christ by using scripture, we will address some mighty awesome things about our Lord and Savior, our ever loving Jesus that will amaze you.

Hebrews 1:2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. And: Titus 2:13 our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

To understand the Sovereignty of Christ, we must first understand that Christ existed before creation and that God created everything through Christ. God also gave Christ the role of governing his creation. It is this role that we will explore as we study the sovereignty of Christ; but, please understand that Christ’s governorship of the universe concerns not only governments but it also includes all the things above and much, much more. His governorship also includes blessings and curses.

Please understand that I will mostly use Christ as this is about his supremacy but also understand that there is a Trinity and the Bible calls both God and Christ Lord of lords and King of kings. 1 Timothy 6:15 —God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, and Revelation 17:14 the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—. This scripture was chosen to point out how the trinity works and is meant to remove any confusion you might have in this book when God and Christ are used interchangeably.

I also use Christ because he appears throughout the Old Testament as the great Governor of the Universe, a name George Washington often used. George understood Christ is before all things. Colossians 1:17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

In his role as governor of the universe it appears that Christ has a special way of being able to appear to people that is not as intimidating as when God appeared to Moses on the mountain top. Here is a great example from Judges 13 where I have removed all scripture but the various names used for Christ: man of God, angel of God, The angel of the LORD, the LORD. From Hebrew 7:1, which reports on an Old Testament appearance of Christ, we have: Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High. And from Titus quoted at the opening we have: our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. Some of my favorite names for Christ are wonderful Counselor, Cornerstone, and most of all Savior

Do not doubt that Jesus Christ is the governor of the universe. From my notes of April 10th of 2011 I have this from my scripture reading: Psalm 25:14 On wisdom, the Lord confides in those who fear him! If only the leaders of the world would fear the Lord enough to seek his guidance before they acted. During the World War II era, the British intercepted the ship Exodus carrying 4,500 Jews to Palestine in the Mediterranean and made them go back to Germany and then came the Holocaust! Winston Churchill and England grew tired of trying to manage the troublesome area of Palestine and turned the problem over to the UN. The UN divided up what was to be Israel’s land, they gave Israel what included the West bank and the Golan Heights but they gave the other lands God gave Israel like the West Bank and Jordan, which was the home of the Palestinians, to a Saudi king to prevent a civil war in Saudi Arabia and so on. The end of the British Empire, which was so huge the sun never set on it, followed this give away of Israelite land to Arabs! When George Bush insisted Israel turn control of the Gaza strip over to the Hamas group of Palestinians, America experienced the terrible destruction of hurricane Katrina, which covered about the same amount of land as Gaza! Can you imagine how bad it will be for America when we will join all the other nations against Israel as the Bible predicts all nations will come against Israel? Do not doubt that the Almighty Lord watches over his special nation of Israel.

The Bible talks about physics in these passages: Jeremiah 33:25 This is what the LORD says: ‘If I have not made my covenant with day and night and established the laws of heaven and earth and Psalm 119:91 Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you and several places in Job.

There is great consternation in the world of science today because of the lack of understanding that Christ is the creator of everything and that is he the Lord of physics, whether it is the physics we understand or the things that are inexplicable. As the creator of everything, Christ sets the rules that govern the universe. It follows then that Christ can have one set of rules at the atomic level and quite different rules for larger things because he sets the rules in place as he pleases or if it serves him and he can repeal the rules as needed as many stories in the Bible tell us.

Who is man, that man thinks creation must be explained at his level? Mans not being able to accept the sovereignty of Christ the creator begs for a more simple explanation than Genesis 1 and then man readily accepts Satan’s deceptive version that creation just happened. The difference between men who can accept Christ’s sovereignty and those who cannot, is brought about by accepting Christ and when we receive his salvation, we then receive the Holy Spirit who guides us into understanding and acceptance of God’s Word. Once I came back to Christ, I could no longer accept a single thing of evolution that I had accepted years earlier. The Bible tells us Christ is Lord of lords and King of kings and Lord of all things and that would of course include physics.

If creation just happened as the work of the mighty amoeba, which is thought to be the result of some kind of chemical accident, shouldn’t man be able to understand and be able to reproduce how the amoeba came to be and how the mighty amoeba then created everything that follows? The amoeba had no recognizable brain. How is it then, that given mans brain, he cannot understand how the mighty amoeba could create everything that followed? If creation is the result of some accidental combination of chemical elements under certain conditions, why would what we have been good? Chemical accidents are horrendous things to be avoided yet some believe there was chemical accident after chemical accident and it was all good! Even if there was an accidental mixer of chemical elements that create everything in an amoeba there would not be life because life needs a creator.

On the other hand, man without Christ does not have the beginnings of wisdom so it is no surprise that man comes up with all these misguided ideas while under Satan’s influence! It stands to reason then that misguided idea after misguided idea cannot lead to the truth behind creation. Men are either influenced by Satan or Christ and sometimes both as part of an ongoing universal spiritual battle for minds.

Since Christ is the creator of everything, why would man think they can fully understand creation without Christ’s help? Also, since Christ’s sovereignty is such an unfathomable thing, why wouldn’t Christ be able to simply explain creation as in the first chapter of Genesis? I find the Bible as awesome as creation so let us look at some of the things the Bible states about Christ. The Bible tells us in John 1 that Christ came as the Word. John 1:1-2, 10 and 14: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ² He was with God in the beginning. ¹⁰ He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. ¹⁴ The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

We need God’s Word because in the world there is much garbage about creation. I recently watched a program called the Factory of Life. They told how everything came out of a chemical soup and then showed the Factory of Life. When they couldn’t explain how chemicals took the leap and became cells, they showed a conveyor belt full of cells coming from behind a curtain and explained they could not explain what went on behind the curtain! I found it inexplicable that they thought they could show the Factory of Life to not be under any management. As usual, they were not about to accept the Bibles explanation. Man would not have need for another explanation of how creation came to be if it were not for Satan’s delusion of mankind!

We see Christ’s awesome lordship of physics throughout the Bible as he changed physics as needed to bless his people or defeat his enemies. He spoke and creation happened, he spoke and the shadow went forward and backward, he spoke and the water separated, he spoke and the water piled up, he spoke and the hammer floated, he spoke and hornets harried the enemy, he spoke and the sun stood still for a whole day (scripture will follow). At his command the Israelites were fed and had water from the rock in the desert and their clothes and sandals did not wear out for forty years! David spoke to him and he came down and defeated David’s enemies in Psalm 18 and 2 Samuel 22.

As born again Christians we stand in awe of our Lord and Savior. If you are not a born again Christian you may already be in awe of Christ’s life and his effect on mankind ever since he walked on earth. My hope is that no matter where you stand on Christ, you will have a better understanding of him and if you are not a born again Christian, my fervent hope is you will fully accept Christ as Lord and Savior. Right in the middle of this chapter I will tell you how to do that before we get back to Christ’s sovereignty. In any event, before this chapter is over you will be more amazed at Jesus Christ than many of you born again Christians already are. Once you have a better understanding of Christ’s sovereignty over everything you should be even more amazed that you can have a personal relationship with the King of kings and Lord of lords.

The Bible states in Psalm 145:3 that Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. So even though we are unable to comprehend Christ’s greatness, we need to try and when we grasp how great the Lord’s glory is, it will humble us even more and that is good. Pondering his glory leads to worship and that is the main reason we exist as we were created for him.

The Bible tells us nothing came into being that did not come into being through Christ. Whatever we might have that is good, including freedom, we owe to Jesus Christ. The Old Testament uses God and Christ as the LORD, because while Christ appears throughout the Old Testament, He is not referred to as Christ but as the LORD and other enduring terms. Such as intercessor, advocate and friend in this wonderful passage from Job, the oldest book in the Bible. Job16:19-21: Even now my witness is in heaven; my advocate is on high. My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God; on behalf of a man he pleads with God as one pleads for a friend.

We need to understand Christ is Lord of all as it tells us in Acts 10:36: You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.

Aren’t we his children? In John 1:4 it states ‘In him was life, and that life was the light of men." Let us start taking a look at Jesus and study why it is that we cannot comprehend his greatness. Here are some key verses:

Colossians 1:15 – 17 tells us that nothing came into being apart from Christ: He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Did you catch that we were created for him! So what is each of us doing this moment to further his kingdom? Shouldn’t all people on earth yield to Christ since he is their creator?

Colossians 2:2-3 Tells us all wisdom is in Christ: My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

We need to understand that since Christ created everything, there is nothing he does not know about his creation or about what is going on in his creation at every moment. If he did not know everything, how can we call him Lord of lords and King of kings as God’s Word instructs us? Rev. 17:14 tells us They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings--and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers."

And in Rev. 19: 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:

KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

If we believe Christ is Lord of lords and King of kings, how can we not believe that he spoke and bang, the entire universe fell into place? That is the only big bang theory to hold onto! Psalm 33:6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. Let us look at this scripture again: John 1:1- 5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. And in the end times 2 Peter 3:10 tells us: But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. Just as Christ created everything, he can destroy his creation in a moment. That should be enough reason for all mankind to worship Christ the creator if it were not for the delusion of Satan.

Proverbs 8:15-31 Tells us the wisdom of God existed before creation and it tells of Christ’s act of creation: I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion. To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have understanding and power. By me kings reign and rulers make laws that are just; by me princes govern, and all nobles who rule on earth. I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me. With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity. My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver. I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice, bestowing wealth on those who love me and making their treasuries full. The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old; I was appointed from eternity, from the beginning, before the world began. When there were no oceans, I was given birth, when there were no springs abounding with water; before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth, before he made the earth or its fields or any of the dust of the world. I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep, when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep, when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth. Then I was the craftsman at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence, rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind. The scientists of the world are seeking the wisdom that Jesus Christ put in place before creation and do not know that is what they are seeking!

Hebrews 11:3 tells us By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. God spoke and all the energy of his command resulted in everything being created.

Did you know that Christ was also appointed as Savior of the World before the creation took place? 1 Peter 1:18-21 ¹⁸ For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, ¹⁹ but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. ²⁰ He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. ²¹ Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.

It is impossible for man to understand God’s Word apart from acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and the Holy Spirit we are given with acceptance of Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:18-25: ¹⁸ For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. ¹⁹ For it is written:

"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;

the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."

²⁰ Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? ²¹ For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. ²² Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, ²³ but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, ²⁴ but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. ²⁵ For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.

This is crucial. Did you note that in verse 21 and again in verse 25 we are told that with all the wisdom of the world, it is impossible to understand Christ as the creator or in any other role! Man cannot have the knowledge man naturally seeks without God’s Word and Christ as Savior.

Now, let our study of the Sovereignty of Christ progress by considering Christ’s power over physical things he created by first discussing light. There was a recent story about how some scientist thought they discovered some things that were faster than light and then they found a bad connection in their electrical instruments! Of course there is something faster than light, let us call it Gods Speed. If you consider all that Christ does and being everywhere at once, Christ must find the speed of light pretty slow!

Immediately after creating heaven and earth that very first day of creation, light was created. Why choose light to study first? Because we will use light to try and grasp the Lords greatness and see why it is that we cannot begin to fathom Christ’s greatness and what he has created and what he watches over every moment of time. Please note that in the Genesis 1 story of creation; God created light the first day but he did not create the Sun and the Moon to govern day and night until the fourth day! In Revelation we are told that in Heaven, God will be our light. Light is just one of the things under Christ’s control since God created everything through Christ. Do not let the Holy Trinity confuse you, there is no disagreement whatsoever between God the Father, Christ his son and the Holy Spirit. While on earth, Christ said I always do what I see my father doing. John 8:29 The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him."

We also need to be reminded about how Christ is sovereign over everything he created both at the level of the universe and at the level of the atom and at the subatomic level. Here is the proof. A Photon is a subatomic particle. Exodus 10:22-23 tells us, So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and total darkness covered all Egypt for three days. No one could see anyone else or leave his place for three days. Yet all the Israelites had light in the places where they lived. Wow, isn’t that something! And so is this, a repetition from above, considering all the durability testing America and other countries do in our Southwestern desert. Deuteronomy 29:5 tells us, During the forty years that I led you through the desert, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet. Are you starting to get a better idea of Christ as Lord of lords and King of kings and of his sovereignty?

Please sit right there in your chair and try to imagine that we are going to take a really quick look at the earth at the speed of light and we will do it at the equator to assure we do not take a short cut in our journey. It takes about one second to say God. So we will use the word God as our timer. So when you next say the word God, try to take a look at the world at the speed of light and see how far you get.

God. Wow! How far did you get in your world tour? Did you see any of the world other than your immediate surroundings? Of course not. Because light moves almost a foot in one billionth of a second. You are lucky if you can move faster than a foot in your effort to get out of your chair and get moving. In one second light travels 186,282.397 miles. In one second light traveled almost eight times around the earth at the equator.

Try and grasp going around the earth about eight times in one second. Did you have a chance to see any of the continents? How about any of the cities? How about any of the people? Did you see any creatures? Psalm 50:11 states, I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine. Did you see any of them! Christ saw them all! He also saw every one of us and all the people on earth. Psalm 33:13-15 states, From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind; from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth-- he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. He also saw two and half human births in that second and probably a death or two.

By the way, on Yahoo, on November 23rd, 2008, it was announced that only about 10% of all species on earth have been cataloged. So Jesus knows ten times what man knows right there! I predict that it will get more and more difficult to believe in evolution as we discover more and more about his creation. You would have thought evolutionists would have thrown in the towel and declared that it was all designed by a superior being like Christ when they first saw the complexity of DNA.

Our own solar system is huge. A flash of light on earth would take about 10 days to reach Neptune at the edge of our solar system. If you consider Pluto, which has been removed as a solar system planet because of its eccentric orbit, it would take another 9 days. Pluto is 3,666 billion miles from earth. It is difficult to comprehend this distance. Beyond Pluto we lose comprehension. The nearest star is Proxima Centauri and it is 4.2 million light years away. Our sun is 93 million miles away and it still looks big to us. Remember how we lose our grasp of the speed of light in a second!

Maybe you would rather explore our solar system at something closer to our speed. How about at the speed of the satellite Pioneer 10? Pioneer 10 left the bonds of earth at 32,408 mph, which is about sixteen times faster than a bullet, on March 3, 1972. Pioneer 10 then took 11 years to reach Neptune. The last signal was received on February 7th, 2003 when Pioneer was 7.6 billion miles from earth. It may reach the heliopause where the suns influence ends and true interstellar space begins. It is headed for the red star Aldeberan which is the eye of Red Bull in the Taurus constellation. Aldeberan is 68 light years from earth. Pioneer 10 may reach it in 2 million years! That 2 million years of constant travel would take it through only a small neighborhood of our Milky Way galaxy!!

Are you getting an idea of where all this is going? Light travels at 186,282.392 miles per second, 268 billion miles per day and over 97 trillion miles per year. We have already lost our ability to put this vast distance into perspective. Light is so fast, it is faster than congress spends money by a small margin. Our Milky Way galaxy is disc shaped and 100,000 light years across and 20,000 light years thick. The Milky Way has billions of stars and so do the other billions of galaxies. Psalm 147:4 gives us this amazing bit of information about our Lord; He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Billions of galaxies with billions of stars and the Lord knows each and every one by name!

This information about his creation is important because as we consider all that Jesus does for each and every one of us in his creation in the world and beyond, he does it in a way we cannot comprehend. He not only knows and watches each of us as he watches over all his creation, he even watches over those to be born in the future! Jesus Christ’s sovereignty allows Him to be everywhere at the same time! He is Omniscient, Omnipotent, and Omnipresent which means all knowing, all powerful and everywhere at once. We cannot grasp what God gave us when God gave us Jesus. His creation is described in light years because it is too huge to understand any other way and we lose our grasp on the speed of light in just a second! The size of our own galaxy of 100,000 light years across is difficult to grasp and we know there are billions of galaxies!

As we consider all of Christ’s works, taking place every moment of time, I think the only conclusion we can come to is that Jesus Christ exists in a spiritual dimension man cannot comprehend. A spiritual dimension full of power that rules over man and one that man is trying his best to ignore! When man finally realizes his error, it will be too late and the terror of the end times will be upon man. In the day of God’s wrath, man will be in abject terror and will call upon the rocks to cover them. Over and over the Bible tells us that the earth cannot be moved; but, Isaiah 13:13 tells us on the day of God’s wrath, the earth will be shaken from its place. Therefore I will make the heavens tremble; and the earth will shake from its place at the wrath of the LORD Almighty, in the day of his burning anger.

Imagine mans terror in that day. Man has always counted on the Lord’s physics that the Lord blessed man with, while denying the Lord; but, now the foundation of all their beliefs is gone. Some of the nearby universe or maybe all the vast universe is gone? The Bible states stars will fall to earth. The sun and moon no longer give their light and the earth is out of its orbit and man finally realizes they are now in the hand of an Almighty and angry LORD Jesus Christ! Then off in the distance they see a great light and they know it is Christ coming in great glory and they know He will judge the earth. Try to picture this; the earth will meander off through space to flee its creator! Since fleeing the Lord is futile, even though the earth is fleeing at every turn it will be confronted by the earth’s creator. How terrifying it will be for those who have always denied Christ. Friends, why not seek and accept Christ now while He can be found so you will not have to face that terror? I hope you realize that overwhelming day of terror may not be that far off!

To continue our study, we need to not only look at the immenseness of His creation going outward from the earth and inward into the atom and subatomic particles but first let us look at his mastery of physics. Please allow me to repeat some really important scripture here. Christ uses Physics which are in the Bible in Jeremiah 33:25 where we are told as part of a rhetorical question that Christ will no more forget Israel than he will the fixed laws of heaven that serve him. Jeremiah 33:25 This is what the LORD says: `If I have not established my covenant with day and night and the fixed laws of heaven and earth, then I will reject the descendants of Jacob and David my servant and will not choose one of his sons to rule over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. For I will restore their fortunes and have compassion on them.’ And in Psalm 119:91 it tells us, Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you and from Job 38:33 Do you know the laws of the heavens? Can you set up God’s dominion over the earth? Christ uses the fixed laws of heaven and especially gravity, to serve him as he holds the earth together.

In Job 38:4-8, The Lord finally answers Job and contends with Job, "Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone-- while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?

Now marvel at this, Christ set the earth’s foundations in the molten inner magma and a flowing semi molten outer mantle! And he continues to hold the pillars of that foundation firm as a blessing to all mankind. Psalm 75:3 When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm. There are of course local earth quake events scattered around in the earth’s crust and as a devout Christian, I must either believe Christ’s is in control or has no control and I know he has full control. Doesn’t his Word predict an increase in earth quakes in the last days? Like in the Revelation earth quake during the tribulation which follows. This is where Christ takes his hand off the earth’s foundations just enough to satisfy God’s wrath against the earth. Revelation 16:17-21 The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne, saying, It is done! Then there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and a severe earthquake. No earthquake like it has ever occurred since man has been on earth, so tremendous was the quake. The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon the Great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath. Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found. From the sky huge hailstones of about a hundred pounds each fell upon men. And they cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible.

I do not know if all the stars fall at once at the end of the tribulation or those in just our galaxy and the rest at the end of the millennium or what. The thing to acknowledge is the mighty power of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and his awesome power over His creation. While I may not know the exact time line, I can guarantee it will happen.

Matthew 24:29-30:Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give her light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the tribes of the land will then wail as they see the Son of man coming on the clouds of the sky with much power and glory… .

Revelation 6:12-17 is where Christ the lamb opens the sixth seal: I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as late figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. The sky receded like a scroll, rolling up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and every free man hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. They called to the mountains and the rocks, Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?

Did you note that in the scripture of 2 Peter 3:10 the earth laid bare is all that is left of the vast universe! Please understand that the earth is and always has been the special place scripture declares. The earth is still standing and the rest of the universe is gone because as God’s Word tells us, the only reason for the vast universe to exist was to declare God’s glory. Now that the earth is laid bare, there is no more need of the vast universe as there is no one left on earth to declare God’s glory to!

Perhaps the best way to understand Christ’s mastery over the laws of physics and how they serve him is to look at how he will bring an end to the heavens and destroy everything on earth at the end of the millennium (the thousand year reign of Christ on earth after the tribulation). Isaiah 34:4, All the stars of the heavens will be dissolved and the sky rolled up like a scroll; all the starry host will fall like withered leaves from the vine, like shriveled figs from the fig tree. 2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.

It does not take long for a fig to fall from a tree. The heavens disappearing with a roar also sounds like this will happen fast. What we can always be assured of is that everything will happen at a speed Christ chooses! This will happen in such a way that it will bring him glory. Most people are being taught that it took billions of years for the universe to expand to where it is and I would guess that they think it will collapse at the same rate. It will not take the universe that long to collapse and disappear. How do I know this? The Bible tells me this, or a large part of the universe, will happen at the end of the last three and one half years of the tribulation.

Man will at last realize that the Earth is the special place God’s Word always claimed it was and that the sole reason for the universe was to declare his glory to the earth’s inhabitants! Well maybe man will not get that wisdom even then because man will be terrified at what they see coming towards the Earth and getting out of the way in a hiding place will consume all their thinking at that time of total terror. Those not killed by the earth quake will have a lot of rubble to hide under!

It amazes me that some think they can tell us how the universe took billions of years to form and they do not know where the outer edges or the center is or even how big the universe is. On Nova, 3/23/11, it was announced that we can only see 5 per cent of the universe. Maybe they will come to the conclusion the earth is the center of the universe; when the rest of the universe is gone if they were to still be around when Christ is here on earth again.

Let’s take a break from considering the terror of the end times while we consider this:

Have you found these thoughts of the great earth quake that levels everything on earth, of the universe being destroyed, of Christ returning to the earth as those on earth hide in fear from Christ troublesome to the point you are filled with fear and dreading those days that will surely come and maybe soon? There is no need to fear if you seek Christ and accept him as your Lord and Savior. Guess what! If you accept him, you will be returning with him. Wouldn’t you rather be with him as one of his chosen people than be on the earth and hiding from him!

It would be such a simple step to accept Christ as Lord of your life if it were not for Satan’s delusion. Seek his forgiveness for your sins and ask him to come into your heart. Do not let Satan delude you into thinking you are OK as is for all have sinned and need Christ as their savior. All who earnestly seek him will find him. Matthew 6:33-34 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Once you find Christ, you should no longer live in fear of anything but him! Him only should we fear. Christ warned us to only fear him, God, who can cast us into hell.

Matthew10:28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

This is so important I present the way to salvation again; follow the Romans road and receive him with rejoicing. Isn’t that way better than being afraid of the end times?

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 10:9-10 If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

The bible tells us he came to set us free. John 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed

Consider this. At the end times all those people cursing Christ and hiding from him will all bow their knees in front of him. Wouldn’t it be better to accept Christ now and live in freedom and joy right now and to worship him than to kneel in fear of his judgment against you and then be thrown into hell for eternity?

Romans 14:11-12 It is written: `As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, `every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.’

So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.

It is important to be set free. Now that some of you have become free, the following will be easier to understand. Before I was right with Christ, I fell for all kinds of teachings I can no longer believe!

Christ is also the Sheppard over the universe. He has named every star as restated here, Psalm 147:4, He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name and every one of them is precious to him. Psalm 145:8-9 states, The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. Psalms 148:1-5 Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD from the heavens, praise him in the heights above. Praise him, all his angels, praise him, all his heavenly hosts. Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars. Praise him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies. Let them praise the name of the LORD, for he commanded and they were created.

Wow! And there are billions of stars in billions of galaxies! The heavens declare his glory: Psalm 19:1-4, The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. As Christians we should consider the vastness of Christ’s glory in physical terms. Zechariah 12:1 This is the word of the LORD concerning Israel. The LORD, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the spirit of man within him--. If Man could actually put measurements on the universe, they would then belittle God by saying it is only this big! After thousands of years and tremendous growth in scientific knowledge, we are little better than Job in understanding all that Christ knows about the universe!

There is no end to God’s glory. We cannot grasp the size of our own Milky Way galaxy let alone the universe. We can barely grasp the distance light travels in a second let alone a hundred thousand light years. Once again, our galaxy is a disc 100,000 light years across and 20,000 light years thick. As James Dobson said, if you compress our galaxy to one inch, then going outward in every direction, there is another galaxy every four to seven inches and the visible universe goes over two miles. Billions of stars in each galaxy and billions of galaxies and the Lord has named them all. And we do not know how massive the universe is because whole galaxies are disappearing from view as the universe expands.

Today we know that galaxies are as common as blades of grass in a meadow. The Hubble Space Telescope recently completed a particularly deep (faint) census of a tiny pencil beam extending far out into the Universe. This survey, called the Hubble Deep Field, was targeted on a region of the sky that was nearly devoid of known objects, so as to be (hopefully) representative of conditions in the distant Universe. The resulting images are truly amazing. Strewn across this tiny piece of the sky are perhaps 1500 or more galaxies of all shapes, sizes, and colors! Because this survey pertains to such a small piece of the sky, the implications are staggering: if the region of sky demarked by the bowl of the Big Dipper were surveyed to the same depth, it would contain about 32 million galaxies! And the estimate for the entire visible Universe is that there are upwards of 40 BILLION galaxies, each containing tens to hundreds of billions of stars!

Doesn’t that put new meaning to Christ naming and knowing all of them? And remember, we were told earlier that what we saw is only about 5% of the universe. Do you see how difficult is to comprehend Christ sovereignty?

Did you catch that the above is about the visible universe! Years ago, National Geographic had something about how many galaxies would be hidden behind a grain of sand held up to the sky? If I remember correctly it was about one hundred. There were many faint points of light which were galaxies disappearing from view! Now we know it is vastly more than that.

At this point, let us take a moment and consider if there is life elsewhere in the universe. First remember all the verses in Psalms 145 and elsewhere in this Bible study about how everything that God created through Christ is precious. The Bible gives no other reason for the heavens and their vastness other than they declare Gods glory. The reason they are so huge and immeasurable is because the Lords glory is immeasurable. His glory cannot be comprehended by man. That is why man cannot determine the size of the universe. Once again, if man could, man would try to pull God’s glory down to some smaller thing that man cold grasp!

Since the Bible states the heavens declare the glory of God and God made them so huge that man can never determine the universes size and glory, man has embarked on another course? Satan has so deluded man that man is now on a vast search to find other stars with a planet like earth. So far they have not found many candidates but let’s assume for discussion sake they come up with a huge number of possibilities. Their conclusion under Satan’s delusion will then be there has got to be life elsewhere. Many scientists are already saying this. What an outrage since man will never be able to visit even the closest star with planets to prove whether its planets have life. The next conclusion will be that, see life just happened everywhere. With that, Satan will have fooled many on earth that there is nothing special about earth and reinforce the lie that life evolved everywhere! This will lead even more of earth’s people astray.

Now, with the above in mind, consider whether there is life elsewhere in the universe. If there were other civilizations, would it be fair that they be destroyed because of what happens on earth? I am all for the exploration of outer space but the focus needs to change from looking for life elsewhere to studying Gods creation. The later will bless us, while the former might be a curse on us because of all the riches being misused while denying a creator.

Look for man to grasp at what has a slight resemblance to life elsewhere because of erroneous preconceived ideas as in the initial announcement that they had found evidence of life on Mars. The announcement was premature but you can count on a barrage of similar announcements in the future. In these later days, science can be by consensus so there will be a consensus that life is everywhere in the universe even without there being direct evidence!

At the same time man grasps for the flimsiest evidence of life elsewhere they look at an unborn fetus on earth and declare it just a mass of tissue! On earth man denies a creator while in space they look at the flimsiest of evidence of life and with great elation praise a fictional mother nature that there is life everywhere under even harsh conditions! Incredible! If life were found elsewhere in the universe, it would be used by man to diminish created life on Earth.

Man has now lost the ability our Godly founders had to recognize self evident truths. Man now looks at DNA and the incomparable workings of the human cell and gives the credit to mother nature. To the mighty amoeba! There is a very evident reason for this ignorance. The Bible states in Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Men who have no fear of our Creator Lord cannot see or understand self evident truth. Being under Satan’s delusion, they can easily attribute things like DNA to the mighty amoeba or whatever but not to God!

The evolutionist can’t see the intelligence behind DNA. Let us suppose the coils of DNA where found in an ancient painting and that the painting was shown to evolutionist and try as they might, they could not deciphered what the painting was about. The evolutionist would marvel at the obvious intelligence of the artist and would spend much time trying to determine what the artist was trying to say! The painting is much more likely to be considered intelligent than all the DNA evidence because DNA evidence points to an intelligent creator and evolutionist will not go there even though they claim to leave no stone unturned in their search for the truth! A painting just points to an artist and requires no acceptance of a creator! Why? I can’t explain it other than Satan’s delusion.

One of mans basic problems is that because of Satan’s delusion, the evolutionist cannot connect all the marvelous things in nature that they tells us about with a creator. While at Mount Saint Helen’s Forestry Learning Center, I saw this quote by John Muir, When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe. Of course! Everything in the universe has one creator and it is all tied to him, Jesus Christ!

How then will man recognize the work of the creator in this world or anywhere in space? As pointed out earlier in Psalms 145:3 Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. Romans 1:18-22 tells us that man willfully remains ignorant, The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools

Talk about not being able to fathom his glory, this is what happened to me in our churches early morning men’s Bible study class years ago. The pastor asked what does Genesis 3:19 mean, where it states, By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground. I said when you die and return to the ground, you will return to the molecules that became part of us. Immediately the Holy Spirit directed me to go to Peter and I knew he meant 2 Peter 3:5 so I found where it states But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water and then the Holy Spirit gave me, there in the mist were you! I was given the idea that Christ the Creator sees us in the atoms that will be used for our creation! With this revelation, I was finally able to understand this scripture told to Jeremiah: Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you--

Reader, you need to understand that Christ gives you your very first breath and takes your last breath from you. You do not breathe on your own. How can I claim that? Because the Bible tells me in Psalm 139:16 that: All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. The Lord knows everything about you every moment of your life and among these is when you will have your first breath and your last breath! I must ask you, since Christ is so vitally interested in you, don’t you think your life would be much better if you knew him?

D. James Kennedy said we will be put together again in a moment of time when Christ returns, no matter what stream our atoms flowed down with the decay of death! Wow, Christ controls creation atom by atom.

David said this as he considered how he was created. Psalm 139:15-16 for you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

David knew that Christ saw his unformed frame before one of his days came to be. He sees us in the atoms before we have a single day. What an awesome thought. Humbling isn’t it! And so Christ manages the universe atom by atom and he knows each person intimately as we will see!

David said these things in his old age. David knew he would be raised up again from the depths of the earth or wherever all those atoms of his went! He knew his honor would be increased. Here is what it says in Psalm 71:20-21: Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. You will increase my honor and comfort me once again.

David will be raised up and reign with Christ in Jerusalem during the millennium. He will rule Israel from Jerusalem while Christ rules the entire world. Jeremiah 30:8-9: In that day,’ declares the LORD Almighty, `I will break the yoke off their necks and will tear off their bonds; no longer will foreigners enslave them. Instead, they will serve the LORD their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.

As you can see there is no end to His Glory going outwards into the universe! Nor is there any end to Christ’s glory going inwards as you will see below. Before we go inwards, let us look at the relative size of atoms so we can appreciate the tiny scale of where Christ is also supreme.

The atom is the smallest thing that has a specific identity like iron or oxygen. A single drop of water contains about 2 sextillion (2×1021) atoms of oxygen, and twice as many hydrogen atoms as a molecule of water is made up of both substances. If you expanded an apple to the size of the earth, then an atom would be the size of a normal apple. If you expanded an atom to the size of the Jerome Schottenstein Center, the nucleus would be about the size of a basket ball suspended midway from the ceiling and the electrons would be out along the walls.
