- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent variety and quantity of illustrations. The book showed nearly endless configurations of ways to set up a sewing room. The fact that some sewing rooms are quite small was not ignored. Good explanations of furniture and relevant supplies were included. Very comprehensive.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A seriously well-thought out book with lots of great ideas! I was looking for inspiration and practical tips for my new craft room, and I really found this book very useful in the planning phase. The author has taken a very holistic, thorough and realistic look at what goes into a craft room. Technically, the language is very clear, and the frequent use of floor plans and photos makes it easy to visualise the finished result. Thanks for a great book and some great ideas!

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Paperback - so much fun to see other sewing spaces and get some ideas as well.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book has great ideas! The suggestions on table and chair height are particularly helpful. Many of the suggestions are, as the title suggests, "dream sewing spaces" -- what you'd get if you had an unlimited sewing/decorating budget. However, they are fun to look at, and you can glean ideas from them. A variety of styles -- from white, ultramodern designs to rooms furnished almost entirely with antiques -- are portrayed, so you can see just how many options there are in sewing room decoration and organization. Several of the rooms pictured belong to ladies who are well-known in the sewing world.

Dream Sewing Spaces - Lynette Ranney Black
CHAPTER 1
ANALYZE YOURSELF, YOUR NEEDS, YOUR SPACE
The typical
sewer is an illusion. We are all different and the design of our sewing space will be different. Each of the sewing spaces in the photos was created for a unique individual. Each design is determined by that individual’s needs and desires.
The first step to creating YOUR custom sewing space is to analyze your needs. Ask yourself questions using the questionnaire beginning on the next page. Think about what kind of sewing you do. Is it a hobby? Do you earn your living sewing? What kind of projects do you work on? What kind of space is required? What tools and equipment does it require? How many people will use the space? Perhaps you and your child sew together!
First, take inventory of all the items that will go into your dream sewing room. Then analyze your body. Learn how you move and use space. The final step is to analyze the space you have to work with and to begin planning how to use
