About this ebook

"Both flirty and intense, and combining a luxury fashion setting with the English aristocracy, this love story will elicit many a contented sigh among romance fans."—Kirkus

To woo this American woman, this British aristocrat is going to have to take a walk in her shoes…

With paparazzi nipping at his heels, Devon Heyworth, rakish brother of the Duke of Northrop, spends his whole life hiding his intelligence and flaunting his playboy persona. Fast cars and faster women give the tabloids plenty to talk about.

American entrepreneur Sarah James is singularly unimpressed with "The Earl" when she meets him at a wedding. But she's made quite an impression on him. When he pursues her all the way across the pond, he discovers that Miss James has no intention of being won over by glitz and glamor—she's got real issues to deal with, and the last thing she needs is larger-than-life royalty mucking about her business...

Praise for USA Today bestseller A Royal Pain:

"A romantic, fantastic, enchanting treat...Don't miss A Royal Pain!"—Eloisa James, New York Times bestselling author of The Ugly Duchess

"Megan Mulry is a must-read author. Highly recommended."—Jennifer Probst, New York Times bestselling author of The Marriage Mistake

"Filled with clever characters, witty banter, and steamy sex, readers won't be able to put it down."—RT Book Reviews, 5 Stars

This book was even better than the first of the series (A Royal Pain). Very witty and original contemporary romance.

Although this book can be read as a standalone, why would you want too? The first book, A Royal Pain, was filled with laugh out loud and touching moments that you wouldn't want to miss out on... this second book to the Unruly Royals Series picks up right where the first one left off following Bronte's best friend, Sarah and Max's younger brother, Devon. Their story is also filled with laughable and relatable moments, but hotter! Sarah James is a young, successful, and well-traveled gorgeous woman who designs shoes for a living! Her determination to thrive and be successful in her business has always come first for as long as she can remember. She has never had the time for a boyfriend... and no matter how satisfied she is with her career, it doesn't hide the fact that she is still a single, 20-something year old virgin. So when the Duke of Northrop's sexy younger brother puts the moves on her, there is no way that she is saying no... a weekend fling is exactly what she needs... What Sarah doesn't realize is that maybe, just maybe, she might need a bit more!Devon Heyworth is known to be the brother of the Duke of Northrop, the playboy-tempered-no-gooder-mommy's-little-royal-baby-boy... little do people know, even his own family doesn't know, that there is a lot more to him than just bumming around the world! And that is exactly what he wants people to think of him. Makes it easy to brush off any royal responsibilities and any serious relationships... When Devon first sees Sarah, it is with a smack in the face! He is not only attracted to her in a way that he's never known, but he wants more... a lot more than he realizes and is ready for! With the right person, Devon does have a soft side! He is also brilliant in a way that no one can fully understand without wanting to take advantage of him. His secret-keeping is completely understandable; but I would have liked to have seen Devon embrace his true-self more. Sarah and Devon's chemistry is undeniable! Megan Mulry's writing has you wrapped around her little finger - every moment is perfectly detailed to perfection! Throughout the book, the story jumps from one point of view to the next in smooth transitions. And the sexiness, although steamy at times, it was done tastefully and right. In the mood for a good chic-lit, than this is definitely the series you should jump into to!!!

Lots of sultry soft core sex scenes with no believable or interesting characters. Writing so-so. Sex scenes are fine with me, but some story and characters about whom I care are required first.

If the Shoe Fits is the follow up to Megan Mulry’s A Royal Pain. This books centers on the relationship of Devon Heyworth and Sarah James. Devon is not the heir but the spare to the 19th Duke of Northrup and has spent his life cultivating an image of an empty headed dilettante barely working as an architect. In reality he is a brilliant mathematician and inventor. Sarah is the only daughter of a stuffy department store CEO who has become well known as the designer/owner of a trendy shoe company. When the two meet at the wedding of Max (Devon’s brother) and Bronte (Sarah’s best friend), the attraction is instantaneous and combustible. The couple has a torrid short term affair, and then agrees that they will move on to their real lives. This proves harder than they thought and they go back and forth on seeing each other and having big blowups and ending it. They are likeable people and we want to see them be together. What I liked about this book was that both characters were evenly matched in many ways. Both of them have success and fame but underneath they have doubts and insecurities about where they belong in their family and relationship areas. There are situations that start with misunderstandings but aren’t dragged out to the point where the reader gets frustrated. They clear up the misunderstandings but the repercussions are what keep the couple apart, which is much more realistic. These are two people who need to open themselves up to not always having the control and be able to move on past it or the relationship will not work. And I so wanted them to work it out. Having enjoyed the first book with Bronte and Max, it was nice to see more of their lives and of their families. There were a couple of hints of who might be the subject of future books. I’m rooting for Abby to be the next Heyworth to find her happiness.

For fans of Sophie Kinsella, If the Shoe Fits is highly enjoyable romantic escapism with a suprisingly very human aristocratic hero and an energetic businesswoman heroine. The only negative was the lack of authenticity in the misunderstandings between them. The plot moved swiftly, however, and the author conveyed strong bonds of attraction as well as genuine commitment to each other. Terrific secondary characters, lavish settings and steamy encounters too.
