About this ebook

Danny Lipman is a thief . . . until one night he robs the wrong house. He inadvertently breaks into the headquarters of the Shadow Project, a secret government organization where teenage spies are trained to leave their bodies, using astral projection to travel around the world on deadly missions.

Danny is captured, but the Project leaders quickly realize he has a special gift. And when a key operative—the director's daughter, Opal—goes missing, he is offered a choice: join the Shadow Project or go to jail.

Danny joins and is quickly sent to investigate the Project's current target: a worldwide terrorist organization known as the Sword of Wrath. But as he gets deeper in, he discovers both the Project and the Sword of Wrath are far more than they seem. Danny and his fellow operatives are caught up in an ancient supernatural conflict and will have to learn how to survive in a world without boundaries of space or time, where the wrong choice could be their last.

Read this book through an online pre release from Harper-Collins and was entranced from beginning to end. The mix of the supernatural and spies made for an entertaining, if not exactly believable, story. The switches between the different characters points of view kept the story moving without being abrupt.

Judith says: This was an interesting change from all the vampire, zombie, werewolf, etc stuff. Just an old fashion astral projection and occult novel. I kind of enjoyed the change but it was a bit slow in the beginning. This probably won't be as 'sexy' as the other stuff currently being read but it might still appeal to young adult readers. The three main characters are all teens and attractive. There is a little bit of innocious romance. The are really the only ones, with the exception of Danny's grandmother, who have the ability to travel on the astral plane and fight the evil could be loosed upon the world. The story is based on actual experiments which have been performed in Russia and the United States. Based on that it might be of interest to some teen readers. I could not tell if the author planned on more novels with these three young people, but I think it would be interesting to read more.
