About this ebook
New York City is miles from Salt Lick, Texas, in more ways than one, but Debbie Sue Overstreet and Edwina Perkins-Martin are rarin' to go. The best friends/beauty shop owners/private-eye partners have been offered an all-expense-paid trip to the National Association of Private Investigators convention in the Big Apple. Debbie Sue sees the invitation as validation, but Edwina has one goal: to get her feet into a pair of super-glam designer shoes, not easily had back home. Yee-haw!
As a sign of things to come, the two Texas tornadoes don't even get out of the state without causing pandemonium at the Dallas airport. And once they land in the Big City they meet Celina, a small-town librarian who's broke and bereft from getting robbed, and Cher, an amiable "working girl" with a heart of gold. Taking them under their wings, they head right for trouble as Edwina nearly starts a riot in the hotel bar.
But the Big Apple hasn't seen nothin' yet! While helping shy Celina hook up with a hunky young police detective, the Domestic Equalizers bumble their way into a murder investigation that could end up leaving Debbie Sue deceased and Edwina stone-cold in her new Jimmy Choos!
Dixie Cash
Dixie Cash is Pam Cumbie and her sister, Jeffery McClanahan. They grew up in rural West Texas among "real life fictional characters" and 100 percent real cowboys and cowgirls. Some were relatives and some weren't. Pam has always had a zany sense of humor and Jeffery has always had a dry wit. Surrounded by country western music, when they can stop laughing long enough, they work together creating hilarity on paper. Both live in Texas—Pam in the Fort Worth/Dallas Metroplex and Jeffery in a small town near Fort Worth.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5The Domestic Equalizers head to New York City!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Lordy! This one is the best one yet of the series!!! The mystery started a lot earlier and the romance was fairly mellow. I honestly don't mind when the mystery starts or how much romance goes on...so long as Debbie Sue and Edwina do their thang, this reader/listener is a happy pup. Debbie Sue and Edwina are asked to head up to New York City to speak at a convention. There are some gaffes and snafu's, but that's to be expected. And I kept cracking up throughout. Bless their hearts, they take NYC and the NYPD and the bad guys by storm. What they may lack in 'sophistication' they more than make up for with their common ordinary horse sense. They can read a scene and people like no one bidness and that works in their favor when they discover a likely serial killer. I think I am getting this whole series on audio for my keeper shelf. I would love to visit with the gals any time I want. Five big ol' NYC ain't seen nuthin' yet diamonds....
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Reviewed for queuemyreview.com; book release June 2008How can any red-blooded woman pass up a book with the title “Don’t Make Me Choose Between You and My Shoes”? The latest offering by Dixie Cash is a hilarious caper starring two of the most unlikely private eyes you’d ever want to meet: Debbie Sue Overstreet and Edwina Perkins-Martin, owners of the Styling Station Beauty Salon in Salt Lick, Texas! I would definitely classify this book in the genre of madcap mystery.I began smiling when I read the title. I began giggling and snorting from page 2. After that it was pretty much laughter all the way to the final page. These two are a hoot and a half! If you like big hair and can say “y’all” without having to think about it, then this is definitely a book you need to read. Although my first by this author, this is actually the fourth book in the Debbie Sue series. First was “Since You’re Leaving Anyway, Take Out The Trash!”, followed by “My Heart May Be Broken, but My Hair Still Looks Great”, then came “I Gave You My Heart, but You Sold It Online”, and now “Don’t Make Me Choose Between You and My Shoes”. Believe you me, the books are just as funny as the titles indicate.Debbie Sue is an ex-Pro Barrel Racing Rodeo Queen. The love of her life is her husband (for the second time) Buddy Overstreet. Cash’s earlier books tell more of the story of Debbie Sue and Buddy’s tangled relationship while Debbie Sue stumbles into the private investigation business. In the current book, Debbie Sue and Edwina get invited to speak at the National Association of Private Investigators annual conference being held in New York City. They’ve obviously hit the big time and neither Debbie Sue and Edwina nor New York City will ever be the same! They become mixed up in a serial murder case when Edwina befriends a professional prostitute at their hotel bar. Murder, mayhem, and hilarity ensue as Debbie Sue and Edwina pit their Texan stubbornness and sense of justice against pretty much the entire public safety system in New York City. Their hijinks involve the police, the bomb squad, the fire department, and emergency services. They even manage to befriend a fellow Texan and abet her budding romance in between investigating, giving a speech, shopping, and the occasional drunken brawl!Once you pick up this book, you just can’t put it down. The action and laughter are non-stop and her writing style is addictive. If you enjoy mystery and comedy, don’t miss “Don’t Make Me Choose Between You and My Shoes” by Dixie Cash. You may want to make sure you’re not reading it in public unless you want to explain why you’re laughing so hard!
