      Can't really understand Tempest Trine. One minute she offers herself to Darius, the next, she runs and defies him.As usual, overbearing Carpathina males with arrogance and ego. And of course, a damsel in distress with a will of her own. What Carpathian Novel won't be complete without? Vampire-hunting societies are hunting them and Darius acts all mushy. Not so Carpathina-like, huh?I like Julian Savage. He's cute. I think i like him here and the next books than his own book.

      Ok, I know I say this everytime, but this is my favorite of the series so far! I really enjoyed Darius and Tempest's storyline (especially all of the stuff with the leopards.) After reading the last book, I was so happy to see that both Darius and Barack found their lifemates. I'm slao glad she told this story right after the last one - it really cleared things up for me. This book was great and I loved that Tempest could communicate telepathically with the animals!

      Darius, the brother of Desari from Dark Challenge, feels the darkness closing in on him until he sets his eyes on the petite, redheaded mechanic his sister has hired to make repairs on their bus. Suddenly, his dark life is filled with color and desire for the feisty girl. Instinctively, he knows she is his life-mate, and joins them with ancient words despite the ramifications of her being human and him Carpathian. I can't say enough about this book. I would say if you're a first time Christine Feehan reader, try this book. You don't need to read the other's first.

      Darius is a clumsy jerk with no social skills whatsoever, and communication issues. Tempest seems kind of dumb sometimes, and we wonder how she ever managed to survive as long as she has, because she always manages to wind up in the right place at the wrong time.Another ex vampire hunter is recruited, and we get to see more of Desari and Julian, Syndil, and Barack, who always seems to do the wrong thing, even though he doesn't seem like a bad guy.This is Darius and Tempest's story... not much goes on here. It's skippable.

      Taking the job as mechanic seemed a good fit for Tempest ‘Rusti’ Trine, she never really fit in anywhere else, but this group of traveling troubadours sounded like a perfect match right down to their love of animals. As soon as Darius realized a human was in the camp he had to meet her, especially after he started to see all the colors around him shining for the first time in centuries. The way Tempest accepted them and most of the things they could do was one thing, but would she be strong enough or be able to understand enough of the differences to make the choice that could put her life in danger.Book 6.…. Almost an immediate continuation of the last book, I had guessed how the next female had been brought in, I had also guessed that Barack and Syndil were lifemates (I enjoyed the public declaration that Barack made in anger), I had made many more guess that ended up being the way the story curved. This book was very predictable to me (I must be getting familiar with the writing style), but sometimes the expected is good. This series is creative, to watch all these tough domineering men struggle to control the only person they really care about, it is fun to witness their frustration (in my opinion).

      Dark Fire is the sixth book in Christine Feehan’s Dark (Carpathian) series. The Carpathians are the creatures who sound a lot like vampires but aren’t - unless something terrible happens to them. In this instance the hero is Darius, the protector of a small group of Carpathians who were orphaned early and had to depend on Darius and each other for survival.Several centuries later, Darius fears he may be sliding over the edge toward vampirism. Every male Carpathian needs a female lifemate but there are far fewer females than males in this closed world. Without a lifemate a male Carpathian eventually loses his soul. Darius knows he can’t hang on much longer even though he feel tremendous responsibility to his “family.” This story picks up where Dark Challenge (Julian and Desari) left off.Tempest - Rusti to almost everyone – appears after Desari puts an ad in the paper for a mechanic to help with the band’s vehicles. She’s beautiful, able to communicate with animals and Darius instantly recognizes her as his lifemate. But she’s human. Humans and Carpathians aren’t meant to be lifemates . . . for one thing Carpathians don’t age. Darius is unaware that humans have been converted in the past due to not being raised around his “race.” Then there is the whole sleeping under the earth, need for blood, and Carpathian males’ alpha tendencies. Tempest is attracted and repelled at the same time. After all, Darius is also sensual, handsome and utterly devoted.Tempest’s problems with Darius are similar to the reader’s. What is irritating and what is exciting about the story is the same thing - Darius. Is he sexy or overbearing? Darius is larger than life. He is literally willing to give his life for Tempest. Very sexy. Then again this is what Carpathian men do. Their devotion is enthralling - and in every Carpathian male’s genes. It’s like a dog chasing its tail. A Carpathian’s gotta do what he’s gotta do. . . that is, become completely a part of his mate. Is it sexy if the couple has no choice?All of this summation sounds negative but, intertwined with the negative there is the whole world of the Carpathians, which is detailed and rich and completely thought out. And, last but not least, there’s the sexy part. The hero and heroine have intense chemistry. Carpathians ooze sex. They adore those they love. The “love bites” are made intensely sensual for both parties.Sexy or overbearing? Both. Feehan’s intensity makes a compelling read even when you want to shake the hero. My final recommendation? Dark Fire is definitely worth reading, even for those who aren’t in love with the vampire genre.4 and ½ stars.

      This was a good read. I don't know if I could have met the demands of Darius like Rusti could. She's very lucky to have someone who cares for her so deeply as he does.

      Tempest is the perfect name for such a strong, passionate character. I loved how this novel had dark, dangerous Darius and a literal Tempest clash. Christine Feehan handled the novel perfectly, I was impressed that the flow was so good. This novel has the typical romance novel theme...rising action...climax...falling action. I especially liked this book because the main character really made an immediate and enduring impression on the reader.

      I have a real weakness for the Daratraznoff family. I love all their books and the men in this family are to die for. First Gregori and now Darius. It is enough to make a girl swoon. Darius has been on his own for so long. He saved himself, his baby sister and four other young children when their parents were killed by the invading Turks. I love Darius courage and honor and his fear for his small family. Tempest "Rusti" is such a hoot throughout this books. She gives Darius no end of fits but she is very accepting of his and his family's difference. Tempest is her own worse enemy. I don't think that she can avoid trouble to save her life and in several cases almost dies from her bad luck. I loved this whole story because you see Syndil come out of her shell after being attacked by one of the men in the family when he turns vampire. You also see Barrack claim Syndil as his lifemate. The relationship isn't resolved in this book but you see the beginnings of it. I am now hooked and may end up reading the entire series again.

      My favorite Dark/Carpathians novel is the first one I ever read, "Dark Desire". I read many more after that one. This was my 2nd favorite and I can't quite say why I liked it so much. Perhaps it was because, basically, it starts out with Darius immediately grabbing Tempest. Boom! Away you go. I loved also how amused Darius' fellow travelers were with his struggles and how he had so much to learn about himself. He was just as lost as Tempest. His inability to control her was often amusing, moreso in this particular story than in others with other characters. For once I liked the animal companions and the women who helped Tempest.

      Best part about this book? The cover without a doubt.I'm sure there are women who like the idea of a strong man who takes over and makes all the decisions but I'm not one of them and really Tempest isn't either. It's better than the other ones I've read, but honestly that doesn't move it much further up my ratings than to "readable".Tempest ran away when very young to escape abuse and meets a group of carpathians including Darius, who discovers that she's his soulmate and procedes to insist that she should become his mate. Honestly if I was Tempest I'd still find the overbearing and irritating and would want more freedom. I wouldn't find it romantic or appealing, I'm sure there are people who do but I'm not one of them.

      Loved this book...All of Feehan's work is excellent she brings out the hopeless romantic when you read her books.This book has it all.
