About this ebook
They were masters of the darkness, searching through eternity for a mistress of the light...
Lead guitarist of the Dark Troubadours, Dayan was renowned for his mesmerizing performances. His melodies stilled crowds, beckoned, seduced, tempted. And always, he called to her. His lover. His lifemate. He called to her to complete him. To give him the emotions that had faded from his existence, leaving him an empty shell of growing darkness. Save me. Come to me.
Corinne Wentworth stood at the vortex of a gathering storm. Pursued by the same fanatics who'd murdered her husband, she was risking her life by keeping more than on secret. Fragile, delicate, vulnerable, she had an indomitable faith that made her fiery surrender to Dayan all the more powerful. This was the e woman whose loss would destroy him, even as her love promised to heal his soul.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Dark Melody is book 12 in Christine Feehan's Dark Carpathian series.Let me just begin by saying thank goodness for this book! I am totally back on the Carpathian bandwagon now. Dark Melody was so much better than Dark Descent (book 11 in the series).Dark Melody is the story of Dayan, lead guitarist for the Dark Troubadours. We first met the band back in Dark Challenge (book 5 of the series), and by book 6, Julian had Desari, Darius had Tempest, and Barack had Syndil - everyone had a lifemate except Dayan. So he left the band to travel with Cullen Tucker, a human loyal to the Troubadours, to hopefully find his lifemate. Dayan is compelled to stop and give an impromptu performance in a small bar, and it is here that he finds his lifemate - the one woman in all the world destined to be his other half . As soon as she walks into the room, Dayan is sure Corrine Wentworth is the light to his darkness. "He heard the soft murmur of her voice, and at once his world changed". Here's where the story goes in a different direction from all the other Carpathian books I've read: Corinne is pregnant with another man's child, and she has a life-threatening heart condition. She and her sister-in-law Lisa are also in danger from the same institution that has hounded the Carpathian race for many years. Corrine's husband John was murdered by the society, and now they have orders to bring in Corrine and Lisa, dead or alive.Because of Lisa's inability to accept reality, Cullen, Corrine and her baby are all injured and put in mortal danger. Dayan cannot convert Corrine because of the danger to her baby, but he must do something to save her. Her heart is laboring so much that it is certain she won't survive the birth of the baby, so Dayan does the only thing he can, he calls on Darius for help. Soon, all of the Troubadours, along with Gregori and Savannah (from Dark Magic) and Jacques and Shea (from Dark Desire) are on route to help heal Corrine. I have to say, I just love the fact that all of the other members of Dayan's "family" are in this book, and to have the healers Shea and Gregori there as well, was so wonderful. The storyline for Dayan and Corrine was touching and heartwarming, even if it was a bit of a departure for Feehan. Usually in a Dark novel, the heroine is capable of taking care of herself (even if the Carpathian male disagrees), but in Dark Melody, Corrine really is in need of a hero. And Dayan, dark brooding poet, is the perfect hero. Dark Melody was a very refreshing read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Using the music he once felt in his heart to be able to survive centuries without emotions, Dayan played his music and watched as his family finally found their other halves. Hearing the music of the Dark Troubadours had always left Corinne Wentworth with such an odd feeling, but actually seeing one of the bands members perform was a rare treat she would take with her always. Dayan could not believe he had finally found her, only to find she had a high risk pregnancy because of advanced heart failure. He could save her, he needed to save her to save himself. He had a family that would support him, help him, encourage him, and most of all, they would help her and her child for him. Book 12 ….. Quite a bit different than most of the Carpathian books. Very little action, relatively no vampire activity and only a couple of minor skirmishes with ‘The Society’. The ‘enemy’ in this story was Corinne’s body, her failing heart and the danger to her baby. The emotional battles were well written for anyone who likes to explore the emotional aspects of these great characters. The return of so many other Carpathians to help was great as was the mention of so many more. The reminder that all of these books/stories are only weeks apart in ’their’ timeline, (I guess I always thought they were years apart) it is interesting to realize how Tempest is adjusting so quickly.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5not one of my favorites, but well written
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This is the only book in this series that I didn't like and got rid of. I just didn't like the dual emphasis on pregnancy and erotica. Not my thing.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I was dissappointed with Dark Melody. The premise is good but instead of concentrating on the story line, Feehan got wrapped up in 101 ways to describe a hot guy and his dark mysterious eyes. By page 60 something I actually said outloud - he has dark eyes I get it - move on already! The repetitive imagery and metaphors overpowered what could have been a tight and tense plot - bulking out the book perhaps but were frustrating to read, which was a shame since the action scenes were mostly well written.I also dislike wonton stupidity on behalf of the female charcters - ignoring a failing heart, a risky pregnancy and killers chasing you to get your underwear or going to a public photography shoot are poor plot devices.Think I might stick to later books in the series since i assume earlier books are likely to be more of the same or worse.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This story is very different from the rest of this series. Corinne is dying from a defective heart and she is pregnant when Dayan finds her. Becuase of this Dayan can't claim her until the baby has had time to mature. However that doesn't mean that there isn't vampire hunter assassins not out to capture and/or kill Corrinne for her differences. So the race is on to give her time so the baby will have a chance to live. This is a sweet story and Dayan is so patient and caring of Corinne. Corinne is a little headstrong much like the rest of the heroine in this sereis but she lives in the moment knowing that her time on earth is short. This book is also a mini reunion book and you realize that every little time has past from Dark Magic to Dark Melody. It really is amazing how many men find there lifemates once Raven is converted sucessfully. I love this series and will continue to read each book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Dayan, lead guitarist of the Dark Troubadours is a Carpathian male struggling with the beast within. Seeing his family one by one find their lifemates leaves him feeling very much alone. Knowing that he must find his lifemate soon, he and Cullen Tucker, a human,(from Dark Fire) are traveling incognito, staying one step ahead of the human hunters, while Dayan searches for the one woman who will make him complete. These are still my favorite books and I eagerly await each new one. Some of Christine Feehan's characters frustrate me to no end like Lisa, with her inability to grasp reality made me want to shake her silly. If you are unfamilar with this series you really should start at the beginning with "Dark Prince".
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5She was pregnant with her dead husband's baby and when her new mate turned her into a vampire, it became his baby genetically...
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was a good entry into the series, but not a great one. It's hard to say what it was lacking. Maybe it was just that Dayan seemed slightly two-dimensional, or maybe it was just that his lifemate was too sick to be a fully developed character herself, for most of it. Her joy in being converted was great, though - a nice wish-fulfillment fantasy for all of us dealing with chronic illness. This is Dayan and Corrine's story, and completes the four books dealing with the Dark Troubadors - The Carpathians who escaped the Turk invasion as children and grew up alone and wild in Africa.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This had a much better plot than any of the others. And less control freakish guys. <3
