Four years after her harrowing ordeal at the hands of a serial killer, Amanda Stockton has changed her name and is finally getting on with her life. But now the monster who played his deadly game with her has struck again and Police Chief Logan Richards is convinced that Amanda knows something that can help catch a madman. Unfortunately, the killer thinks so too...

An intriguing premise and a solid beginning. Unfortunately, the story and the romance lose momentum toward the end.

This is one of those rare cases where the characters are overdeveloped and the details of their lives are repeated over and over ad nauseam. How many times do we have to hear of the mistake that led Logan to leave town, or about the sick game the killer played with Amanda - a game that is never fully explained nor is how the heck she got away from him?

Amanda and Logan’s initial chemistry is strong, but ultimately fizzles toward to end and the last chapter or so actually undermine the romance. Added to this is the unrealistic nature of their relationship. Would a detective really risk his case by becoming involved with a witness, not to mention moving her into his home?

The resolution to the case is also problematic as the killer is not only obvious, but his motivation is inexplicable - It would have been more believable if Riley’s brother had been the killer..

All in all, not sure that this one is worth the effort.

The plot of this romantic suspense was pretty good with lots of action that moved right along but I didn't care for the romance because there was too much insecurity that didn't gel with their competence in solving the serious crime. Chief Logan is working on a serial killer case and needs to interview Amanda, a previous victim who escaped.

I loved this story. The descriptions of everything make you feel a part of it. The characters are great. A fast and easy ready with lots of mystery. I highly recommend this book. I loved the storyline and this book was very well written. Although this book was non-fiction, the characters seemed so real to me and everything came together at the end. If you like mystery, drama and a good climax.....this book is for you!!

I read this book after reading Simon Says Die and wanting to read more from Diaz. This book was a great romantic suspense. Diaz did an amazing job of pacing and wonderful story telling. Both the romance and the suspense were equally well done. Logan, the hero, is one amazingly hot chief of police. But, of course, he's more than just a hunk. He has his own emotional baggage and guilt from a mistake he made years ago. The heroine, Amanda or Mandy, is so likeable. She's a strong woman with her own past guilt and the literal scars that show what she went through. The romance between them is believable and enjoyable to read. The suspense element was carefully thought out and kept you guessing. I loved how everything came together in the end. There was the perfect amount of foreshadowing and false leads. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will read more from Diaz.
