Seems like lots of people have good things to say about this book. Me too. I adore the voice, it's very fun and irreverent. The premise is wacky and thoroughly enjoyable (hey, who wouldn't want to be a goddess of destruction??), and she paints a glorious, rich picture without overplaying the ethnic card. I felt the book slacked off a bit in the final third, and I couldn't quite get into the hero and what made him a great love interest, but overall, an excellent rad. I'll definitely be checking for her next one, too!

Loved this book especially the funny irreverant tone of this novel. Maya discovers she is the incanation of the Hindu Goddess Kali. So the formally funloving, not-so-devout Hindu is forced into a new appreciation for her heritage and purpose. This was my first East Indian/American novel and I loved the humour. Once you refuse to take it seriously you'll enjoy the ride
