About this ebook
A Pirate's Love
Sailing westward toward the Caribbean sun, young Bettina Verlaine obediently sets out to fulfill the promise made by her father--but not by her heart -- a prearranged marriage destined not to be...once the notorious Captain Tristan's pirate ship appears on the horizon.
Abducted by the bold and handsome brigand, the pale-haired beauty surrenders her innocence in the warm caress of the tropical winds -- detesting her virile captor for enslaving her. . .yet loving him for the passionate spell he casts over fragile, yearning heart.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Completely un-PC romance novel deserving of the term "bodice ripper". Includes rape, or, possibly more accurate, forced seduction.Synposis: Heroine is traveling overseas to meet her betrothed. Along the way, her ship is attacked by pirates. The captain takes her captive and rapes her as spoils of war. However, over the course of the journey, he determines he won't turn her over to her betrothed for ransom, as originally planned, and instead takes her to his own home on a tropical island.Heroine falls in love with the captain but is reluctant to tell him given his treatment of her and her general stubborness.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5My first Joanna Lindsey novel was A Pirate's Love which was chock full of "forced seduction" (aka "rape her again and again until she falls in love with you." Hello, Stockholm Syndrome?!). To be fair this was written in 1978, just after The Flame and The Flower had made that a prominent theme in romances, but to modern eyes this is not the stuff of romance. Spare yourself. There are better pirate romances out there.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Nice to see that the heroine didn't fall for her capture immediately. It was nice to see her at least attempt to fight. But or course love won out in the end.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This is one of JL's earliest books. If I had read this first I would not have continued to read her books. She definitely got better as the books came.

The hero is a barbarian who doesn't think twice about raping the heroine and she is a gullible idiot who lies there and takes it.
I have totally grown out of this type of writing. - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5The worst romance story ever written , Sorry Johanna, I loved your other books, I guess we all have a bad day, Definitely getting raped is not romantic , Heroine is angry and pretty stupid whole time , a disappointment
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Bettina Verlaine leaves France to travel across the sea to her betrothed, whom she has never met.On the voyage, her ship is overtaken by pirates. They steal her for their captain's pleasure.Tristan is a man full of hate. His parents were murdered in front of him when he was young, and his only thought is to find the man who did it. Until Bettina that is!! She invades his senses. This book of full of rape scenes. Tristan will not allow Bettina to deny him her body. He begins to awaken her desires.Reading this one is a guilty pleasure.
