      Excellent!! Everything the author writes has, for me, a seriousness even in the humor; a doorway to the higher. He writes: "The root of all esoteric sciences, no matter what the outer form looks like or pretends to be, is to transcend the Physical Body, and by the Physical Body I mean the emotions, the thoughts, the sensations, beliefs, attitudes, strivings, yearnings, desires, seductions that go along with the Physical Body." And: "You’re not going to start out at the very top. You are at the top, but you’re not going to start out there." And: "You’ve got to start somewhere, and where you should start is where you are, rather than where you hope to go."

    Something that has been missing from the Astral Projection literature for quite some time now is a simple step-by-step method that allows anyone to place themselves firmly on the path to these higher realms and the development of their own higher bodies. Astral Projection Made Easy by E.J. Gold fills that gap in the literature — and fills it very well. The power of this book by E.J. Gold is found in the simplest of elements. One of these powerful, yet simple, elements is the way he sets the record straight on the relationship between the Organic Body, the Etheric Body and the Astral Body. Efforts to project from the organic into the Astral are bound to meet with failure for the beginner for the simple reason that the Astral is not the next plane. Projection is accomplished from one plane to the next highest. Jumping, or by-passing a plane is not how it works. Or, as they say: You can’t get there from here. However, the moment one redirects efforts to project into the Etheric, suddenly everything becomes a million times easier. Admittedly, anyone steeped in occult lore will be intimately familiar with this concept, which points to the second aspect of this book that gives it so much power. E.J. Gold is willing and able to bring the teaching to the student. Bringing the teaching to the student involves knowing the path from beginning to end and having the willingness to shapeshift one’s teaching method to fit the audience. There are many very enlightened individuals that have either found themselves in their current enlightened state by what’s called the giant leap — or, they may have just forgotten what it was like along the path. Whichever the case, they don’t seem to be able to talk in a way that someone early in the path can relate to. Perhaps it is by the nature of his own path to enlightenment, or perhaps it is by virtue of working with tens of thousands of students over the past fifty years. Whichever, he has the ability to make solid contact with students and give them exactly what they need to make the next step. This book is not a travelogue. This book is not a parade of ideas in print to impress or amaze the reader. This book is a step-by-step course that will lead from the beginning to success. That does not happen by accident. That is the result of a great deal of work and inspiration. As mentioned above, the power of this book is found in many of its simpler elements. One such element is the notion that Etheric Projection is not the projection of the Organic Body into the Etheric plane. Rather, it is the transfer of one’s consciousness from the Organic Body into the Etheric. The Organic Body is resident to the physical world. That is where it originated, that is where it operates. In the same respect the Etheric Body is resident to the Etheric plane. That is its natural domain. Efforts to bring the organic from the physical into the Etheric are doomed to failure. However, the moment one realizes that all the method calls for is the transfer of the consciousness from the Organic to the Etheric, then the impossible becomes eminently probable. The consciousness is not bound to the physical. The consciousness comes from a much higher realm. So transfer of our consciousness from the Organic Body to the Etheric Body should be most accessible. This leads us to the next so-called simple element that I find so impressive with E.J. Gold’s Astral Projection Made Easy. That element is a simple acknowledgment that this is not make-believe and that the rules of common sense apply. How is it that application of the rules of common sense have any relevance in this circumstance? Well, if you have had the unfortunate experience of having a leg or arm put in a cast because of injury, then you will know from personal experience what it is like to suddenly find yourself trying to use a body that is weak from non-use. In order to allow the body to mend a break in the bone a doctor will immobilize the limb so that the ends of the bone stay in alignment. This is good for the bone. But it is bad for the muscle surrounding the bone. From disuse, the muscles become weak — they can even atrophy. Hence, after the bone has mended and the cast is removed, the limb will be weak. There is a simple remedy for this — exercise. Often doctors will prescribe physical therapy for patients with a newly removed cast in order to help them revitalize their newly healed limb and gain strength so that they may function properly. It is total common sense that if you don’t use the muscles in your arm, the arm will become weak. It is also total common sense that if you try to use you arm while it is in this weakened condition, you will experience dramatically reduced functionality. If you treat the Etheric Body as an ordinary kind of thing and allow yourself to apply common sense to the situation, then you will quickly realize that, of course, when you first succeed in projecting into the Etheric Body it will be weak and you will have dramatically reduced functionality. As you work with the exercises in this book you will realize that each exercise is both a method of enabling your transition into the Etheric Body and a method of rehabilitation to strengthen and enliven the Etheric Body. It is this kind of simple, down-to-earth, well-conceived, holistic approach to Astral Projection that so impresses me with this book’s true potential to help make Astral Projection truly easy. — Dr. Claude Needham

    Author’s Preface

    In this manual, you have the basic instructions for the easiest method of projection you’ll ever come across. If you’ve tried projecting and failed, this book is definitely for you. Within its pages, you will find all the tools you need to get started on this exciting endeavor.

    One point that might be of interest is the question of why it is that some folks don’t see their Organic Body when first projecting.

    Actually, they do, but there are three main reasons why they blank it out, make it go invisible.

    The first reason is that the Etheric is so heavily tied to the Organic Body that it cannot go far from it, which is why when we project with the Etheric Body, we don’t try to move further than a few dozen yards from the Organic Body.

    The second reason we might not see the Organic Body with the Etheric Body’s vision is that the Etheric Body is not tuned to the Organic – its vision is not accustomed to seeing organic bodies in its slightly higher visual spectrum, and visible light is alien to it, especially when it’s first visioning things on its own, under its own power. It has always depended on the vision of the Organic Body for its visual information.

    Thirdly, when we separate from the Organic Body under shock, such as an accident, general anaesthesia or being hit by lightning, we can easily see the Organic Body, but that’s because we are not in the Etheric Body when separated by shock — we go directly into the Astral Body, and that body is quite capable of seeing the Organic Body, usually from above. If you can see the Organic Body easily during Etheric Projection, the chances are that you are already slightly in the Astral Body, which is great! It means you’ll have an easy time all the way up the Ladder!

    Don’t worry if you cannot see the Organic Body with your new Etheric Vision. As you ascend up the Ladder, your vision will improve rapidly, and you’ll be able to see all sorts of things, and even through things such as walls and other visual obstacles.

    Once you’re in the Astral and above, you can even visit other planets, star systems and galaxies and even other universes, where you will discover other civilizations, some of them far advanced from our own! You’ll soon discover that we are very much
