The Recruiting Insider’s Workbook for Candidates
This guide is designed to assist you with preparing for your interview. Review it and it will help you prepare and be ready. Some of this information may be a simple review for you, but some may be new or bring new insight into questions you may have to answer. Write notes in the space provided. Think about your answers to these questions and how they might be interpreted. Consider additional questions that you may want to ask about the position. Use this tool to get the advantage. Gain an edge over the competition!
Arrival
• Bring your photo identification. Also have a working pen (or two) in your portfolio pad. Make sure you have a resume with you and at least 2-3 extra copies for interviewers. If your recruiter sent a resume to the client, then ask for the same version so you are literally on the same page
during your conversation.
• At this point, before entering the building, you may call your recruiter for last minute prep and then turn off all of your devices! This is your last chance to review your research notes about the company.

- Focus on the task in front of you. Do not get hung up on distractions like the commute to the interview. You need to get your head in the game, focus! This is serious business. What does "get your head in the game, focus!" really mean? It means to focus and think like the interviewer. Whether or not you like to think of it in these terms, you are in a game of skill and wit. Just like the politicians in government, you must utilize your skills to present yourself in the best light possible. F O C U S! Answer the interviewer’s questions honestly and with the presentation that conveys that you are the right candidate to support your manager and the company. It means being confident with your abilities and experience. It means that you put the company’s position first with your support. It means that you are ready for those questions where you have to give examples and tell a story with ease. When you anticipate most of the general interview questions and are very prepared, it allows you to focus on your core competencies, where your expertise lies. What does
