About this ebook

Bree Nicholls is close to solving a case, and someone is willing to commit murder to disrupt her investigation. When Bree’s dog Samson goes missing, it’s just the beginning of her life turning upside-down.

Bree Nicholls and her K-9 search-and-rescue dog, Samson, recover missing persons around the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan. Together they’ve become an unstoppable mystery-solving team.

When a man working at a new plant near Rock Harbor dies under suspicious circumstances, Bree’s involvement in the investigation leads to an astonishing find—family she didn’t know she had. Then Samson goes missing. As she tracks down her loyal dog, Bree finds that the mysterious murder and dognapping are connected. The clues lead her to evidence buried deep in the wilderness of the Upper Peninsula.

Park Ranger Kade Matthews steps in with his expert knowledge of the deep woods. Together, he and Bree must track down the killer—and find Samson before it’s too late.

Another good mystery/romance story in this "Rock Harbor" series. I have to say I almost didn't finish this story because I got so fed up with Bree and her failure to realize what a great man she had in Kade and also and more importantly, I just have a hard time reading about people who train dogs for dog-fighting. And I knew if Samson, Bree's dog, was captured and trained that I probably wouldn't want to read about it. Fortunately, the author saved the day on both counts, and I was able to finish the story and was pleased with both outcomes. It was written well and had me all over the place with my emotions. To fully understand what all is going on in the lives of these characters it would be most helpful to go back and read these stories in the order they were written. The author does a good job of keeping you guessing in this story as to who is behind all the bad things that are happening in this story. And there are a lot of different stories going on in different people's lives that are all interesting. Enjoy!

Title: Into the Deep (Rock Harbor #3)Author: Colleen CoblePages: 313 (e-book)Year: 2013Publisher: Thomas NelsonMy rating is 4 out of 5 stars.Readers return to the charming community of Rock Harbor, Michigan. The cast of characters is the same as in the prior two novels with new additions. Bree Nicholls and her favorite rescue dog, Samson, are searching for a lost scientist who didn’t come home from work, according to his wife. Unfortunately, they find his body. Bree wants to do something to help solve the crime. She begins asking questions of the other scientists who worked with the deceased. These people are working on a hush-hush project that involves plants but that is all they can say. Was the victim killed because of what he knew about the project, or did he have other enemies that silenced him? Bree also discovers she has previously unknown family added into the mix, which sends her heart into a jumble. What else could happen?Kade Matthews is out patrolling the park when he comes upon a small lake with hundreds of dead fish floating in it. What happened to these fish? He discovers empty buckets and wonders if someone has poisoned the water, the fish, or something else. Could it have anything to do with the mysterious lab and scientists stationed just up the river that feeds into the lake? He has also heard rumors about illegal dogfights taking place nearby, and there have been reports of local dogs gone missing. Then, the unthinkable happens…Samson is taken. Kade knows how much this dog means to Bree and her young son, Davy. He will do all he can to find the dog. Although Kade and Bree are no longer in a romantic relationship, they can still be civil and work together. Kade still loves Bree, but she is avoiding having her heart hurt again, so she has turned to a more superficial relationship with a local fireman, Nick.I wasn’t really sure what the inclusion of Bree’s unknown family added to the story. Maybe for future plot lines? Anyway, the rest of the story was a good mix of mystery, action and romance. I like seeing how the relationship between Bree and Kade waxes and wanes, encountering struggles just like in real life. If everything was perfect, it wouldn’t be believable. I also like how Bree is learning to live her faith openly, growing with each new situation as she relies on God.Note: The opinions shared in this review are solely my responsibility.
