About this ebook

Too much chick lit and too much of a "pat"ending

Writing: 4.0; Theme: 4.5; Content: 4.5; Language: 5.0; Overall: 4.0; This was the first novel I have read by Mrs. Wiehl. It was exciting to read a book (a Christian book) and not see any bad language in it. I appreciate this characteristic of Wiehl and hope it is true in her other tomes. This novel had many twists and turns which kept me interested, but there were times that the script seemed to be rather predictable. The author gave an encouraging word against the horrible disease of cancer. In this novel three friends (Cassidy, a news anchor; Nicole, an FBI agent; and Allison, a federal prosecutor) team up to discover who murdered a young want-a-be news anchor, among others. The evidence all points to one person and they must prevent this person from murdering again. Recommend. ***July 24, 2019***

This crime novel features Allison, a Federal Prosecutor, FBU Agent Nicole and crime reporter Cassidy. It is the third book in the Triple Threat series but can definitely be read as a stand alone novel. At the Portland Fitness Center, Cassidy joins the boot camp class run by the seemingly flawless instructor Elizabeth Avery. Elizabeth is a master as manipulating people. The icy sociopath has already had her fellow former inmate, Joey Decicco, committing arson for her. Now she has her sites set on getting rid of her boyfriend's ex-wife and son. However, when Elizabeth ruthlessly disposes of an inquisitive young reporter, her crime catches the attention of Cassidy, Nicole and Allison. What they don't know is that they are already on a first name basis with the killer.I thought this was a terrific read. It was interesting from the first page. This was my first Triple Threat novel, but I would read more in this series. There was plenty of suspense and mystery. Elizabeth was one of those evil characters who you just love to hate. The other characters were all women with pretty powerful jobs trying to balance work, families, friendship and even a life threatening sickness, as we see in Nicole's situation. A fast paced thriller that I would recommend to anyone who loves to read crime novels. Looks like there will be more in this series as well as a new supernatural series coming from this author.

I really like this series. This is the third book and the three women characters just keep solving those crimes. It doesn't hurt that they are best friends either. Get to know Allison, Nicole and Cassidy. I bet you will like them as much as I do.

Lis Wiehl co-wrote with April Henry The Triple Threat Club novels, which follow three fiercely intelligent women—a TV reporter, a Federal prosecutor and an FBI agent. At first sight, theft and arson seem to be the trick of a man, Joe. His youth was devoted to setting fire and discovery the powers of ignition. Now he’s bound by the commands of the gorgeous, but psychopathic Elizabeth Avery (“Sissy”). She orders to murder several people in what appears to be random killings. When Elizabeth kills a young young tv reporter, and let her dead body dump, her crime catches the attention of Federal Prosecutor Allison Pierce, FBI Special Agent Nicole Hedges, and crime reporter Cassidy Shaw.Several storylines, and additional male and female actors enter this whodunnit. Who’s next on Elizabeth’s list and will everyone be able to cover up what he or she’s done? Like a true crime novel private and business context are interrelated and give the characters their human traits in Heart of Ice. Can they stop Elizabeth before she reaches her unthinkable, ultimate end-goal? I enjoyed reading it, though the tension’s is never that high, that you can’t put away the book. Written with some Christian and supernatural elements in it, you won’t find explicit language or indecencies. I think some more real-life details like anger, lust and jealousy are certainly missing to make Heart of Ice a real thriller.

This was the third book in the series. I have not had the chance to read the first two. However, that didn’t preclude me from enjoying this one immensely. Each book is a separate entity which is nice because you don’t feel like you missed anything by not reading the others. I do plan on going back and reading the first two in the series. If the other two are as good as this one, then I know that I will be in for a wild ride. The Triple Threat Club is a group of three women who have been drawn together to help investigate crime. There were several plots going on at once. It was easy to follow each of them though. The characters were well written. You feel the emotional pains that the women go through. You really hate the two villains in this story. This is one of those books that you will hate to see end. I certainly can’t wait to get my hands on the first two in the series. In conjunction with the Wakela's World Disclosure Statement, I received a product in order to enable my review. No other compensation has been received. My statements are an honest account of my experience with the brand. The opinions stated here are mine alone.

Review of Heart of Ice by Lis Wiehl Review of another Triple Threat Club book by Lis Wiehl with April Henry.Three professional women in the book all have a personal story which captures the reader's heart and emotions.Nicole Hedges is an FBI agent, Allison Pierce is a federal prosecutor and Cassidy Shaw is a TV crime reporter. The three met in college and one time shared a Triple Threat Chocolate Cake and so named themselves the Triple Threat Club. The mystery is not who has done the crimes but makes you wonder how it will end. A page turner with many twists that will keep the reader interested. Elizabeth, or Sissy, is a cold blooded woman whose has a heart of ice as the book title refers. The reader is not sure what she will do next and how.Murder, conceit, hate, love, tough love, guilt, worry, emotions and prayers and some of the tag words to describe Heart of Ice. I could relate to the bruised arm in archery, I did that also when I was in high school and that brought back a memory for me, not a good one because it does hurt and sting. I also relate to turning on the TV and FOX comes on; happens in our house all the time. The author really describes the breast biopsy of Nicole and you are almost with her as she describes the method. Your heart goes out to her. Lis Wiehl is an attorney and it shows in the descriptions of grand jury and procedures police and the FBI use. I personally like a book when I can learn something. No swear words (that I remember) or ones that begin with the f word that I am seeing so much now. God is mentioned a number of times and one I liked is when Allison is praying because of her sister, Lindsay, " Lord, give me a loving heart. Help me to see my sister through Your eyes". It is not a religious book and not a steamy book. A good read. The last book, Hand of Fate, Allison had a miscarriage that broke your heart and in this book, Nicole faces the possiblility of breast cancer. The characters in these Triple Threat Club mysteries leave you with the feeling that these three women could be your sister, your best friend or someone you know at work. The books, Face of Betrayal, Hand of Fate and Heart of Ice need not be read in order. There is a reading group guide at the end of the book that can be used for a book club. I received a complimentary copy of Heart of Ice to read and review from Thomas Nelson Publishers. Reviews are on booksneeze.com. The opinions are my own.
