The edition I read was printed in 1990s. Since Zondervan changed hands, the new NIV versions have been edited like Reader’s Digest versions of the Bible.

Continuity errors, inconsistent writing style, repetitive cliché plot-line, after the 60th begat I fell asleep.

I am not a believer, but the Bible is a Western culture classic that has its uses in literary studies.

Best selling book of all time. The most read and scrutinized book in history and yet hasn't been proven false! This book changed my life! So simple a child can read it yet so much depth a theologian can drown in it! Must read! Real people, real places, real facts, real historical events. Generations have followed it and more will continue! Proves every other so called holy book false in it's pages and is still relevant although written 2,000 yrs ago.

As they say, the greatest story ever told. You get everything (love, betrayal, miracles, war, doom). You also get peace and insight for you daily life.A continuous read, everyday for life. Even if you think you know it by heart, reread again and again. Good for your mind and soul.

I stopped reading my NIV earlier this year. The publiser, Zondervan, is a division of Harper Collins, which also publishes the satanic bible.

The Bible does not really need a review. This particular edition has a good centre reference section.

I love my journalling bible, with text only on the left page; the right is blank for journalling and notes. I'm highlighting favourite passages, often in a different version of the Bible, in mine. I know this will be a favourite Bible of mine for years to come.

This is not my favorite version, but it is nice to have such a small, pocket version for travel.

I'm an atheist but I respect everyone's beliefs (as long as they respect mine!), and I'm reading the Bible for the first time in an attempt to understand others' perspectives better. It really is fascinating and is an incredibly valuable historical and anthropological resource. I'm only up to Deuteronomy, but I'm very much enjoying the read already--though I do find myself skipping over the census parts and the stuff about how many cubits the tabernacle has to be. :) I think this will be an extremely educational read and I'm glad I decided to try it. I'd recommend it to anyone regardless of their spiritual inclinations.

This is a very durable and easy to read Bible. I use this Bible while at work. The price and hardback nature of this bible enables me to take and read everywhere with out worrying about damaging.
