The premise: ganked from BN.com: All Beatrice Shakespeare Smith has ever wanted is a true family of her own. And she’s close to reuniting her parents when her father disappears. Now Bertie must deal with a vengeful sea goddess and a mysterious queen as she tries to keep her family -- and the Theatre Illuminata -- from crumbling. To complicate it all, Bertie is torn between her two loves, Ariel and Nate.My Rating: 7 - Good ReadWhile I have one reservation, it's too tiny of one to knock this down a rating. Truly, this is an utterly fun and delightful read, but not on par with her debut. The tiny reservation comes from the realization that this trilogy is best consumed as a whole, rather than three installments that you read over the course of three years. In truth, it reads like a three-act play, which of course makes all the sense in the world, considering this trilogy is Theatre Illuminata and dominates the world-building of the story. If there's one thing I still admire and embrace with Mantchev's books, it's how utterly fun and imaginative they are. I love the magic system (even while forgetting how it works between books), and I love the maturity in which Mantchev handles her heroine and her heroine's decision-making process. The trilogy ended well, and I look forward to re-reading it one day, as well as seeing what else Mantchev has to offer in the future.Spoilers, yay or nay?: Yay. For those of you who haven't read the book yet (or any of the rest of the trilogy), do not read the full review, which is found in my blog. However, if you're caught up on the series, I'd love to hear your thoughts! Just click the link below to go to the full review. As always, comments and discussion are most welcome.REVIEW: Lisa Mantchev's SO SILVER BRIGHTHappy Reading!

This is not a stand-alone book, do not read it before the other two like I did. I found it very confusing, and the parts that tried to be whimsical just felt annoying.

So Silver Bright, wrapped up the answers that Bertie has been wanting to have answered, some her whole life and others that she wanted when she found out her mother. If finding out her past wasn't enough to handle Bertie has two men who both love her, fighting for her love. Just like the second book, a whole lot happens on the journey, but I had some issues staying focused on the story. The end did have an interesting twist that I didn't see coming after the 3 book build up.

I love this series. Any fan of the theater, especially Shakespeare, will love all the references. Even without them it's a fun story with a great cast of characters.

Bertie is not ready to fight Sedna again, not so soon, and when an invitation to attend a party in the Royal Castle arrives she and her company quickly decide to attend. They might not be so thrill about meeting the Queen (from whom they've heard a lot of things... and not all of them so good) but they are eager to lose Sedna. After a few disappears they finally arrive to the castle where they perform for the Queen in exchange of a wish: Bertie can get what her heart desires most. And she surely knows what she wants: to reunite her family. But not even the Queen's power can grant her that wish... But she can, at least, offer her all the missing pieces of her parent's story. And without knowing what's coming her way Bertie begins a travel through time to discover all the secrets behind the masks... all the plots that had changed her life and threatens her happiness. And, at some point, a deal made with a herb-seller to ensure protection is going to change Bertie's future even if she doesn't know it. Is she ready to face what is coming for her?Is the Théâtre ready for the final battle?Personal opinion:I can say a lot of things about this book, about how it made me feel, how it made me smile and how it made my cry but all the words would not be enough to summon and explain how much I enjoy it and how sad I am now that I've finished this series.First of all, I don't know if you have been between two loves and know, for sure, that you could be very happy with both guys... but we can't have both of them, right? Bertie can't do that either and it breaks her heart every time she thinks about choosing one of them.At the end she chooses one, even if she doesn't know it. And I cried, I did. What can I say? I was cheering for both of them because the way they love her is just so sweet and tender...So, if you are going to pick up this series and read the three books make sure to have a box of tissues next to you.Despite the bittersweet ending the book was amazing, all the questions were answered and everything had an explanation. The ending came fast with a final twist that knocked my world and I'm sure Bertie's too. And, as always, Lisa Mantchev's writing was exquisite and marvelous... a good plot needs a good writer, and a good heroine needs a good storyteller, Lisa was both.

The curtain has risen for the final act of the tale of Beatrice Shakespeare Smith and the rest of the players along for the ride with her on her journey to not only find her father, but find herself. We have been with Beatrice for two acts now and her quest to reunite her family comes to a dramatic close in So Silver Bright. I have loved both the previous books in the series, Eyes Like Stars and Perchance to Dream and do not think that you could read So Silver Bright without reading either one of them. The reason being, we pick right back up where with left off in Perchance to Dream and there are too many back stories that are woven into the current plot from previous books. I fear a new reader to this series would find themselves lost and in need of information gained from the first two books.I find myself almost at a loss for words for describing how I feel about this book. It is like a work of art with the rich details and the beautiful language I could easily get lost in. Beatrice’s world revolves around Shakespeare quite frequently and this book flows almost like one of his plays would. It is impossible to read the book quickly, because if you do, you will miss a vital clue or character development. Lisa has written a story that forces you to slow down and soak in every detail of the fascinating world she has created. As for the love triangle in this book, it is the one and only time I have not had a problem with there being two male love interests. Bertie has formed friendships with both Nate and Ariel and her heart yearns for both of them for different reasons. She is on the path to self-discovery and both of the men fill different places in her heart. It is not until she discovers who she truly is and what she wants out of life that she can choose one of them to stay by her side. I have gone back and forth between Ariel and Nate throughout the books and never quite knew which one I was hoping would win out. While reading So Silver Bright though, my heart went out to Nate with his ability to love so fully and his generous personality. He does not want to control Bertie or tell her what to do, he just wants to stand next to her wherever she goes and be her partner. I admired him for finally easing up on Bertie and that is what kept me in his corner in this book. Ariel is still a great guy, but his heart is torn between Bertie and his freedom from everything. I also did not like the fact that he always seemed to abandon her when she needed him most. I was hoping he might come around, but Ariel lost me in this book and I was not sure where his love of freedom would lead him. You are going to have to read the book to find out the answer to that though, and the answer to who ends up with Bertie as well. ;)As always, the fairies supply and abundance of comic relief in tense situations and had me laughing out loud on multiple occasions. They are bottomless pits for sugar, constantly bickering with each other over everything, but they love Bertie fiercely and their undying loyalty for her was admirable. These stories would not be complete without these crazy fairies flying around in search of sweets and telling jokes. I love that Lisa has written such fantastic secondary characters that not only add an interesting element to the story, but are also very memorable and lovable. While that is true of all the secondary characters in this novel, the fairies just happen to be my personal favorite.By the time we come to the climax of the story I was just as emotionally drained as Bertie was and found my eyes welling up with tears as her fate unraveled. Lisa concluded all the events so beautifully; I could not help but get attached to every character and invested my whole heart into their stories. Overall, this series is just fantastic and by far one of my favorite in the young adult world. I have never seen a world like the one Lisa has created and I am sorry to see it come to a close, but “all good things, must come to an end” and Lisa has ended it perfectly. It is a tale that will stay with me long after the final curtain goes down and one I will miss dearly. If you are a fan of plays, poetry, Shakespeare and magic, than this is a series you cannot miss.

What I LovedCoversFirst off I wanted to say, all 3 of these books have had amazing covers. I love how Bertie's hair is depicted correctly for each cover and the wonderful sidekick fairies always make an appearance. I can't wait to add the hardback book to my shelves. The WorldI was hoping in book 3 the whole of Bertie's world would be unmasked and you would understand everything that could or couldn't happen, but that was not the case. It's like trying to see something at the bottom of a muddle puddle, you try to take a step closer to see it and than the whole thing clouds up with mud. You think you might finally understand this world, but than Lisa throws you for another loop and you are completely jolted with another creative crazy thing. Cars, jeans, mechanical horses, carriages, flying pesky fairies, transporting binoculars, magical mirrors... the creative list goes on and on with these amazing inventive possibilities. I love how confusing and possible anything in the world is, life would never be dull being Bertie or being a part of her company.CharactersBeatrice Shakespeare Smith aka Bertie: I love this witty smart mouth young woman just trying to figure out who she wants to be with, how to get her family back together and trying to puzzle out her story to make it all possible. She can create so many different things with the power of her words, it it just astounding at her abilities to create.Nate vs Ariel: I never did choose who I wanted Bertie to end up with. I liked them both for each of their own qualities. I'm glad I didn't have to choose and I loved how Lisa wrote the end of the story, all are finally happy. The Fairies; Peaseblossom, Cobweb, Moth and Mustardseed: I love these 4 nutty, wise mouth, sugar high sidekick fairies. I would love to have these little ones eat me out of house and home with all the crazy entertainment they provide. The fairies provide great comical relief throughout the entire series and there is never a dull moment when they make their appearance. What I Didn't LikeThe trilogy has now come to an end and I find it very bittersweet. I'm glad that I have gotten to the end of Bertie's long journey, but I wouldn't be opposed to more stories later on.RecommendationRead the whole series, one book after another. Just remember when reading this series (if you are new to them) in this magical fantasy realm anything and I mean everything is possible.

This is the final book in the Theatre Illuminata series by Lisa Mantchev. I received am advanced reading copy of this book for review in exchange for participating in the Silver So Bright cover reveal earlier this year. It was a good conclusion to the series. The book is beautifully written and creative, I enjoyed how the series was wrapped up.Bertie is recovering from her run-in with the sea witch Sedna and meeting her father. Her father takes off leaving her abandoned. Now Bertie is stuck in a horrible situation; Sedna is still after her and Bertie still hasn't been able to fulfill her promise to her mother, Ophelia, that she will bring her father back to the Theatre. As if this isn't enough Bertie recieves an inviation to perform in front of the Queen that cannot be refused. Bertie has a lot to do; and through it all she will have to finally make a decision about who she will choose as her companion...will in be the steadfast pirate Nate or will it be the magical and mysterious wind spirit Aeriel. The writing in this book is beautiful, magical, and glittering. This is a book to be savored slowly, and while that makes it a tough read a points, for the most part it is very beautiful and magical. There is a lot that happens in this book, a lot of adventure, some action, and some emotional turmoil. Our favorite characters are all here; with the addition of a couple more. In this book we get to meet a beautiful Queen who ages from birth to death each day, a herb witch who wants ideas of children as payment, and we get to spend more time with Bertie's father. We finally learn the history between Bertie's father, Ophelia, and Sedna. We also get to watch Bertie struggle between her love for Aeriel and Nate and see her finally make a decision. The plot moves along as a wonderfully fast clip, as I said a lot happens here. The world is incredibly creative and we see more of this world in this book than in any of the previous. So many magical and fantastic things happen; you just never knew what would happen next.I only have a couple small complaints. The first is that, like the other books, you have to read every word and really pay attention to follow what is going on. That's not necessarily bad, but it makes the book a harder and slower read; the language in the book just doesn't flow as naturally as it could. The second complaint is at points I still had some trouble picturing exactly what was happening. I think this is because some of the things that happen are so fantastical and so complicated, that it is just hard for the reader to really picture the world in detail.Overall I enjoyed this book. It was an excellent ending to an incredibly beautiful and creative series. If you love a creative fantasy with adventure and a touch of romance check this series out. I will be keeping an eye open to see what Mantchev writes next.
