About this ebook

Brian the care-giver was a weasel.
He conned Jo’s once vivacious Mother out of everything she owned – then fled, leaving her an empty shell of a person.
On the other side of the world, at the same time Jo discovers that her once perfect London life with her adoring husband was about to come to an abrupt end too.
So here Jo was back in New Zealand, broke, living in a block of concrete flats with dubious neighbors on the wrong side of town.
Could things get any worse…well yes, her Mother moves in!
The Mother and Daughter start as near strangers, awkward with each other both pretending to be coping better than they actually were.
Then after more bad luck is dished-up, Jo makes a bold decision concerning her future, and her Mother stops telling white lies about what she’s really up to during the day and starts creating a real life again.

I love animals. I have 5 cats, ages 12, 12, 11, 2,& 2. I also have 2 adorable Chiweenie pups named JJ and Abbey. The 4 youngsters in the pet department make me smile, laugh and sometimes groan each and every day. Recently, I got temporary (ha!) custody of my daughter’s 3 year old, Great Pyrenese named Shasta. We've bonded, especially her to me, so what do you think that means.... Seriously, she's a special needs dog and very sweet. Each spring, we have a nest of swallows in our entry way and I love to watch the babies leave the nest and take flight. I enjoy crafts of all sorts including quilting, sewing, cross stitch and knitting. Knitting and crochet are my current passions. I also enjoy gardening. Through my love of all things Native American, I designed a 26 foot Medicine Wheel Garden. It is a big project but one that I enjoys, except when the weeds threaten. Right now its uncertain who is winning this war. Camping, fishing, biking and hiking (when not hot) are other outdoor pursuits I enjoy with my husband of 35 years. I am, of course, an avid reader. I hate cooking and housework and love to listen to a wide variety of music, including Neil Diamond, Celtic, Native American, Classical, and mood music (bagpipes and howling wolves drive my family nuts). My current favorites are Blackmore's Night and David Lantz I love to hear from my readers and I try to answer all my mail but sometimes it takes a while. Be patient. And check back here for the latest news of my books. Bio Native American/Western romance writer Susan Edwards is the author of the popular “White” Series. Completely Glorious - Susan Edwards

‘He’s gone Mum and he’s not coming back,’ Jo said in a firm voice as she opened the curtains in her mothers lounge.

‘Now get in the shower and I’ll pack a bag you’re coming home with me.’

Maude slowly looked up at her daughter, ‘just leave me alone and stop bullying me.’

Jo strode over and pulled the blanket off her Mothers shoulders and said, ‘come on, I’m not taking no for an answer.’

Reluctantly Maude rose to her feet and headed toward the bathroom.

‘And wash your hair while you’re at it,’ Jo called out after her.

‘For god’s sake’ Jo whispered scanning the room, wine bottles, empty take away boxes, this wasn’t like her Mother. She was usually house-proud to the extreme, not a slob drinking in the daytime in a darkened room by herself.

Jo quickly threw some clothes into a bag.

‘I don’t want to go anywhere,’ Maude pleaded as Jo zipped up the bag with Luxury Cruises sprawled all over it.

‘You’re coming and that’s an end to it,’ Jo gently forced her Mother out the front door and into the car.

Then she went back into the house to collect the rubbish bag and left it on the footpath as she knew rubbish-day was tomorrow. Finally she locked the front door of the house she’d grown up in. ‘Bastard’ she muttered, thinking of the weasel who’d taken her Mother for a ride.

Maude’s head was hung, her lank wet hair made her look even more pitiful, Jo thought.

    Jo waved at the
