    The club swung through the air in a powerful arc. There was a metallic smack as the golf ball rocketed off the tee and soared toward the sky.

    Blake Symonds watched its progress with interest, the driver still swung over his shoulder from the follow through. The little white ball flew straight down the middle of the fairway, then at the very last moment it veered hard right, bounced a couple of times and rolled into the light rough on the edge of the fairway.

    That was a bit of bad luck, offered his golfing buddy, Maxwell Rhodes. It looked good for a while there.

    Blake shrugged and stepped aside so Max could take his shot. The older man carefully and meticulously placed his ball on the tee, then took his time getting his hands and feet positioned right. When he was ready he paused and looked out over the fairway. The driver slowly swung back, then dropped with an audible swoosh. The golf ball sailed low and flat and hit the fairway two hundred metres down, where it bounced and rolled on for another fifty metres or so.

    Nice one, offered Blake. Right where mine would have been had it not taken a last second detour.

    Max smiled and winked. That’s the difference between a good golfer and an average golfer....Consistency.

    Blake nodded. He couldn’t argue with that logic. And Max was right, he was a more consistent golfer than himself. But then again, he’d had many more years of practice too. Blake had
