The Princess Di Conspiracy (The Film They Don't Want You To See) - Patrick O'Connor

    INTRODUCTION

James Hewitt, a young Army Captain in her Majesty’s elite The Life Guards Regiment, was on official business at Buckingham Palace when he first met the very young and unhappy Princess of Wales. Her marriage to Prince Charles was coming apart and she was lonely, hurt and disillusioned with the life that had been thrust upon her. She felt completely trapped in the Palace system.

Captain Hewitt supported and cared for her during one of the most troubled times of her life. They fell passionately in love and their affair lasted for over five years.

The screenplay opens with the now, Major Hewitt, commanding a Tank Squadron during the first Gulf War in 1991. We show scenes of the battle in which Major Hewitt was commended for his bravery and leadership. We cut to a scene, showing Major Hewitt reading one of Princess Diana’s love letters, sitting on the desert sand next to his tank during a lull in the battle.

During his time spent in the Gulf War, Major Hewitt received a letter from Princess Diana almost on a daily basis. These letters and many others she wrote to him during their five year love affair will become a very contentious issue later on in the story.

With Flash Backs, we pick up the start of their love affair. We will show many intimate scenes of their relationship and how it all began. With James teaching Princess Diana to ride, their love of the out doors and their many liaisons at various royal estates and at her apartment in Kensington Palace.

We will show how the lovers, due to various precautionary steps they took, felt secure from the outside world. They were never aware of the constant surveillance they were under by the British Intelligence Service.

The marriage of Diana and Prince Charles was one of convenience for Prince Charles. He was conducting a long standing liaison with Camilla Parker Bowles before he married Diana. At that time, Camilla was not acceptable to the Queen.

We will show how the British Intelligence Service manipulated and setup Princess Diana’s first meeting with Captain James Hewitt and continued to make it easy for the lovers to meet and consummate their relationship. We will show this in all its graphic detail.

James Hewitt was not Diana’s first lover while she was married to the philandering Prince of Wales. The suicidal, bulimic and desperate Princess needed a friend, so she relied very much on her Personal Body Guard, Sergeant Barry Mannakee. A brief physical relationship ensued, but after the affair was discovered, Sgt. Mannakee was hastily transferred and within a short time he met with an unexplained motorcycle accident. Diana tearfully confessed to James Hewitt that she had the affair and told him she was certain the disgruntled Mannakee had been murdered, because the Royals were afraid he would talk! We will show that a mere Sergeant in the Personal Protection Unit was not a suitable lover for Diana. But a Young, Handsome Officer of the elite Guards, was perfect for the Prince of Wales to cover his transgressions.

The Princess of Wales and the James Hewitt love affair was getting more intense as the years progressed, with Diana becoming very aggressive in her desire to obtain a divorce from Prince Charles and marry James.

We will show during this period, their meeting at various formal occasions and one famous meeting of James Hewitt, the Captain of the Army’s Polo team, playing against Prince Charles’s team, with Hewitt accepting the winners trophy from the obviously pleased Diana. Resulting in a press photo that played around the world!

Much to Diana’s displeasure, the now Major Hewitt, was ordered to a training posting in Germany. Whilst he was there, the first Gulf War

(Desert Storm) started and Major Hewitt commanded a Tank squadron.

We leave the Flash Back and continue the story by showing a bit more of the final battle, until Major Hewitt returns to his base camp, as Victory is declared. While there, he receives the message that will ultimately change his life and his relationship with Diana.

Major Hewitt was called into Regimental Headquarters, an adjutant hands him without saying a word, a copy of a British tabloid newspaper. The headline reads, I LOST MY LOVE TO DI. Underneath the headline was a picture of Diana and beside her, a picture of an old girlfriend, with whom James had not seen in years. When he was en route to the desert, he had been puzzled to receive a letter from her. The lady was obviously paid for her bogus story, but the cat was out of the bag. The British press picked up on the story and the subsequent revelations about the Princess Di love Affair, made it almost impossible for the two lovers to take up as before, or even meet again. Coincidently, this story broke about the time that Prince Charles’s campaign to get the Queen to accept his relationship with Camilla, was nearing fulfillment. Major Hewitt returned to England to resume his duties with The Life Guards, but was constantly hounded by the tabloid press and ultimately resigned from the army.

Hewitt returned to his family home, where his Mother maintained a stable and riding school and tried to lose himself in riding and teaching. Princess Diana went on finally to divorce Prince Charles. She agreed to be interviewed on TV for a book about her life. Much to James’s dismay, she revealed intimate details of their five year love affair.

James Hewitt tried to keep a low profile, but the tabloid press was relentless. He bought a large riding estate in the countryside, far from London and created a new life for himself, but this was soon to change into another disaster.

James took a much needed holiday in Monaco and went with friends to the Casino. He was approached by a very beautiful lady and they eventually, over several months, became lovers. James took her to home to his estate in England. She became a frequent visitor and they ultimately became engaged to be married. One night she was in James’s office as he was sorting some papers, and she asked him about a bundle of letters that he was transferring into his safe. He told her they were letters from Princess Diana. Later, due to a severe lover’s quarrel and a misunderstanding on her part, she took the letters from James’s safe and tried to sell them to a British tabloid. It later transpired that James was set up by the newspaper and its notorious editor, using the vindictive lady from Monaco.

The screenplay ends, showing the battle to get back the stolen letters James Hewitt has with the Royals, at Buckingham Palace. The tabloid newspaper gave the sixty-two letters to senior officials at the Royal Palace, which later proved the Palace’s complicity in the theft! James wins his case and gets the letters back. We show how James Hewitt goes on to be from one of the most disliked men in England, to one of England’s most admired and loved celebrities.
