    Bruce Watson jumped a little as someone kicked the back of his seat again. He glanced at his children in the rearview mirror. After seven hours in the car, they were becoming understandably restless.

    We’re starving, the two children cried out from the back seat of the car. Their voices were so in sync with each other that it almost seemed rehearsed … and it probably was.

    I’m hungry, too, honey, Crystal said. We haven’t eaten since you sped through the Drive-Thru at Mickey-D’s this morning. It’s almost three-thirty. Can’t we find someplace where we can sit down and eat?

    I’m just trying to stick to the schedule you printed out, Bruce told his wife. It’s your sister’s wedding, not mine. I’d love to get out of this car for a little while and stretch a bit. They don’t make these cars for people my size. And someone keeps kicking the back of my seat. He eyed the rearview mirror accusingly.

    Crystal looked over her shoulder into the rear of the car. Kids, stop kicking the back of your father’s seat.

    Kyle keeps looking at me, Sherry complained. And I’m starving to death.

    Kyle, stop looking at your sister, Bruce said. Even though she must look pretty funny as the world’s first four-year old anorexic. Bruce glanced into the rearview mirror again and smiled.
