      Dr. Adams, a portly necrologist with thin graying hair, pulled his medical instruments from their drawer and checked Aiden’s fangs. Looking good. You remember to rinse them every night, right? It's hard to whiten 'em once they get stained red. Though the young vampire couldn’t speak with his mouth open so wide, he managed to make an uh huh sound, as he glanced sideways at his sire, 220-year-old Gerard Martin, who stood in the corner watching with trepidation.

      Careful doctor, Gerard said. I don’t want him to bite you hard by accident.

      Aiden flashed him an indignant look, but Dr. Adams just chuckled. It’s been three weeks since you’ve turned him. He should be learning to control his powers soon. He handed Aiden a small ball, like a stress-reliever, attached via a cord to a computer. Squeeze here young sir, with as much strength as you can muster.
