      Chapter 1:

      My dog died!

      I was DEVASTATED!!!

      He was the love of my life!

      My heart experienced gut wrenching pain

      and agonizing loneliness.

      My life as I knew if for the past 17 years was

      obliterated!!!!

      Being in an empty house was more than

      I could bear!

      For months afterwards before bedtime

      I would stand numb at the outside door

      like I had done for years at potty time.

      Nights were horrifically quiet!

      The emptiness and darkness was traumatizing!

      I couldn’t bear to put up his photos, food bowls or toys.

      What do I do with his collar and leash?

      Today, when I looked into that puppy’s eyes,

      there was something very familiar.

      Something my heart and soul responded to and recognized.

      Something about that tiny furry fluff felt familiar. Perhaps it was the way he looked at me, as if he had done it many times before.

      Surely I thought, not again?!

      With all my heart, I prayed for it to be so!

      Revel Comes Back as Sidewinder

      In 2006 my young Australian shepherd, Revel, died in a tragic accident on our farm. I experienced some of the darkest days I’ve ever known!

      I remember carrying his lifeless body back to my house and crying until I physically couldn’t cry anymore. I remember praying and praying to God and begging for a miracle.

      I pleaded with God to put life back into Revel and offered anything I could think of in return. I felt like if there was a God and He loved me and He loved Revel, God could have given Revels’ life back again. I became convinced that all my pleas had fallen on deaf ears.

      After he died, the first time I saw Revel was that same day. It was a fleeting glimpse that made me think I might be crazy. I had taken his body to the crematorium and staggered out of the building almost blinded by my tears.

      As I approached my truck, I saw him sitting in the front seat, beside my other dogs, just like he had so many times before.

      His image was there for an instant and then it was gone. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. What I didn’t understand at that time, was that seeing Revel’s image was his way of telling me he was all right.
