    Giulio Zambon

    Giulio holds a doctorate in Physics from the University of Rome (Italy), where he graduated cum laude. After a period of teaching Electrotechnics in a high school and a fifteen-month stint in the technical corps of the army, he joined the computer industry. In the ensuing thirty years, he worked as a software developer, system consultant, process improvement manager, project manager, and chief operating officer. During his career in computing, Giulio wrote hundreds of technical reports and presented several courses and seminars. He published several computing books and manuals and some Science Fiction stories. The list of his published work is at his website zambon.com.au. In October 2011, he released CalcuDoku 1.0, an application to play CalcuDoku on the iPad. You can find it in Apple's iTunes application store.

      What is this about?

      I grew up in Italy, which like France, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Latin America, the Philippines, and many other countries, is predominantly Catholic.

      Like almost every other Italian, I was baptised when I was a baby, and unwillingly became member of the Catholic Church. I was a happy-go-lucky baby, but when the parson dropped blessed water on my head, according to my mother, I started crying. Apparently, many babies don't like the sudden splash of cold water on their head. But I like to think that my reasons for crying went deeper than that. I like to think that I protested the only way could against being baptised.

      It took me almost sixty years, but finally, in November 2009, I managed to have recorded in the parish were I had been baptised, that I was no longer part of the Catholic Church. I officially became an apostate, excommunicated. You can read the details of that act of self liberation in my blog (giuliozambon.blogspot.com/2010/10/i-am-apostate.html).
