Introduction
With a strong work ethic, great industrial triumphs, a reputation for quality workmanship, one of the best health care services in the world, Germany has always (and will always) be a great, valuable and influential world power.
Currently, part of the European Union and the G8, the country of Germany is one of only a few that is propping up the Euro, without which it is probably clear that the EU would fail. The German economy is robust enough to provide support for failing countries; such as Ireland, Greece and even Italy.
Historically, more than any other country, Germany has had a colourful yet sometimes marred past. Pre 20th century the medals of the German empire were used, but as we approach today Germany was torn up firstly by the Nazis, then with the introduction of the Berlin wall which split the country in two and finally to today, thankfully, where we are left with one Germany, where equality and democracy rule.
As the title describes we are going to explore the German army medals of today right though its history. Each award is described, together with a picture and the numbers of each medal were awarded (if known).
The German army has always played an influential part in the changes that we have seen occur to this country through history right up to this very day. Let us delve deeper into the very influential and important army of Germany...
