This transcription is of the Journal of the Wyandotte Legislative Committee which can be found on microfilm at the Archives and Manuscripts Division of the Oklahoma Historical Society, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Every effort has been made to make as exact a transcription as is possible. As with all microfilmed and older documents, the hand may at times present difficulty in transcription. This book is presented in the linear format of the original text.
The printed edition of this transcription contains no overt changes from the original manuscript. Due to the format, the Smashwords edition has been modified spelling to allow for better searching. Journal of the Wyandotte Legislative Committee
The Legislation Committee met at the School House in Wyandotte City on Wednesday, September 27th 1848 and organized by the appointment of William Walker as President and Silas Armstrong as Secretary.
On motion, It was ordered that the chair be authorized to purchase the necessary stationary for the use of the Legislative Committee.
The following rules for the government of the Committee in the order of business were adopted. First reading the Journal of the previous proceedings, which when found correct shall be adopted and signed by the presiding officers.

4th Reading and considering ___________
5th All bills shall have their first and second reading on the day of their presentation and have their third reading and final passage on the second day.
The following bills were introduced and laid on the table for consideration:
A bill to provide for the election of the Sheriffs.
A bill regulating the appointment of three National Ferryman and other purposes.
A bill regulating the solemnization of marriages.
A bill making appropriation for the expenses of a general Council with the Delaware’s and other tribes.
A bill providing for the appointment of School Directors.
On motion the Committee adjourned to meet on Monday Oct. 2nd.

Committee met at 10 o'clock.
On motion, the bill regulating the election of the Sheriffs was taken up and read the third time and passed.
On motion, the bill regulating the appointment of the National Ferryman was taken up and considered and after Sundry Amendments was read and passed.
On motion, the bill to make appropriations for a General Council etc. was taken up, considered and passed.
On motion, the bill regulating marriages was taken up, read, amended, and passed.
On motion, the bill for the appointment of School Directors was taken up, amended, read a third time, and passed.
On motion, the Committee adjourned.
