      Dale slammed his palm on the nightstand to silence the alarm clock.

      He tried to open his eyes but they were so heavy. He started to rub at them lightly, remembering the last time he did so too roughly and they were red all day from the irritation.

      He didn’t need another lecture from his sister about the ‘dangers of drugs’.

      He scoffed, remembering hos neurotic Maria could be. She could stub her toe and think it would result in an amputation.
