Acknowledgements

Thanks and glory to the Almighty God by the power of His Son Jesus Christ, by whose wisdom and grace this book has become a reality. Although all the incidents described in the book are true, in a clear conscience before God a few names have been changed to protect their identity.

To the glory of God, I dedicate this book to ARCHBISHOP BENSON A. IDAHOSA, my spiritual mentor; whose works stand today all over the nations of the world, as monumental witness of his calling as an APOSTLE of FAITH to his generation.

I sincerely honour Rev. Dr. Nicholas Duncan-Williams, the Presiding Bishop of Christian Action Faith Ministries International as an outstanding voice of God in Ghana and beyond.

Special thanks to God for my cherished wife, Agnes Saah and our dear son, Emmanuel Benson K. Saah, whose prayers and encouragement give me a daily drive to success.

Foreward

What a timely intervention by Rev. James Saah! ‘THE FINGER OF GOD’ is not a mere book but a ‘message’ sent from God to take the Church back to the secret of the believer’s spiritual life – prayer.

Prayer is as old as power. Prayer links a man to the power source of heaven. Prayerlessness leads to fear, doubt, sin, murmuring and negligence of heavenly responsibilities.

In the Modern Day Church people want quick solutions to problems. Divine intervention in Moyo’s life after a 40-day fast as cited by Rev. Saah is rare in our day. This generation seeks after men of God to simply lay hands on them and expect everything to be okay. Church folks don’t want the hard work of prayer and meditation on God’s Word.

Many believers are scared of prayer because they have not received enough inspiration from the Holy Spirit to pray. Another problem lies in the fact that many believers have not received enough motivation for prayer through the reading of good books on prayer.

The Finger of God is excellent material for anyone who wants to be motivated to pray. The book is easy to read. This book is the fruit of a man who is seasoned in prayer and who portrays great maturity in the things of God.

True to form as a great teacher of the Word of God, Rev. James Saah makes prayer accessible, attainable and amiable.

Knowledge, power, flair and creativity abound in this book providing it with all the necessary ingredients to make you a non-stop prayer baron.

The Finger of God will teach you and inspire you to pray. You gradually become what you read habitually. No one can be prayerful who does not read books on prayer.

The testimonies in this book show how God intervened in situations of distress in people’s lives and brought dramatic changes. As you read them your faith level will rise and your breakthrough will follow shortly.

Three things are guaranteed in this book for the man who prays; favour, deliverance from destruction and change in negative situations.

Chapter One

THE PRAYER QUESTION

"The World has yet to see what God will do through you and me. Our task is to pray and wait and see what that will be." Anon.

Prayer is the right and responsibility of every spirit-filled Christian. But have you ever felt like asking God the question? Why pray? Your world comes tumbling down like a pack of cards. Your world to a large degree seems to be hanging by a thread. Spiritually and emotionally, you are spent, your future looks bleak. An overwhelming sense of hopelessness seems to cover your head. Life has become one struggle after another, and lately maybe, suicidal thoughts criss-cross your weary mind.

Does the Almighty God care? Am I a creature of blind fate? To begin with, God cares about you; He is fully aware of your tragedy, heartache and adversity (Psalm 42:1-5). Regardless of how you see it, there is a level of responsibility that you must be willing to take; the first step toward faith in God. This is certainly where prayer comes in.

Plainly stated, prayer is God’s mechanism of doing His will here on earth as it is in Heaven. "And he said unto them, when you pray say, Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be your name. Your Kingdom come. Your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth." (Luke 11:2).

It is through prayer that we can express our hopes, dreams and fears to a loving God who wants the very best for us. The fact remains that in the light of God’s Word, we can only discover God’s Mind, His Will and His Purpose for us through prayer. Each of us surely has needs; the one sure way to have these needs met is through prayer. Prayer is the most powerful tool a believer has. Nothing compares to it.

Andrew Murray was a great man of faith and prayer. In the book; "With Christ in the School of Prayer", he writes: "The powers of the eternal world have been placed at (prayer’s) disposal." Prayer therefore is the highest form of power in the universe.

We all agree that even though King Solomon stated that money is a defence, and wisdom is a defence, prayer can do in your life what both money and wisdom cannot do. Prayer according to God’s Word, is emphatically an avenue for divine intervention. Each of us must acknowledge the gravity of the fact that, without prayer we are left alone to work things for ourselves, which none of us can do.

Jesus’ Prayer Life

Jesus never taught His disciples how to preach, only how to pray, so said Andrew Murray. He added that, "The disciples had been with Christ, and seen Him pray. They had (learned) to understand something of the connection between His wondrous life in public, and His secret life of prayer. They had (learned) to believe in Him as a Master in the art of prayer – none could pray like Him. And so they came to Him with the request, ‘Lord, teach us to pray’ …"

It is not strange that several notable Bible teachers have said that an alternative to the Gospel of Luke would be the Gospel of Prayer. The Gospel of Luke opens up with the prayer life of Jesus in a way the other Gospels don’t. You will observe that the other writers say that Jesus was in the Jordan and the Spirit descended upon Him and Luke points out that it was while He was praying that the event took place. The other writers state that Jesus
