Introduction
Many women today think that after they have gone about with every Tom, Dick and Harry, no man would ever want to be with them let alone marry them. There is a saying that goes: strays don't belong to nobody
. You may think that you are a stray, but let me tell you today that you are not a stray to God. He will love you and care for you like no mortal man can. He will give you everything you need right now if you will only come to him.
Who says you have to be naked to look beautiful? Beauty comes from the inside. Yes, you have to look after your body, dress smartly and look good, but real beauty is not on the outside. God made all us of beautiful. No matter how you look in appearance, no matter if men shuns you and say all kinds of nasty things about you, just remember that the one who created you loves you more than you can ever imagine.
When God looked out across eternity, He saw you. He saw all that He had created and then He took another look and saw exactly what He would create round you. He knew what needs He wanted you to meet right here on earth, and He knew what abilities, talents and gifts you will need to complete the purpose for which He had created you. And when He was finished with this beautiful creation, He was pleased with His work. He saw such a beauty in His eyes that he could not resist but said This is good.
Take a good look at yourself in the mirror. What do you see? What do you think of yourself? Are you beautiful? Are you proud of yourself? Or do you think you are ugly and a good for nothing? People are going to treat you the same way you treat yourself and respect you the same way you respect yourself. So if you think you are beautiful people will think you are beautiful too. If you think you are ugly then what do you think others will think about you? The same! So stop putting yourself down and start loving and treating yourself good today and you will see how differently you will be treated by others. God made you to be somebody, so be that somebody that He made you to be.
If you are suffering today in a relationship that is only bringing you more pain than happiness, and you think that no one cares, let me tell you that Jesus cares. He wants to set you free from your abusive relationship. No woman should be abused and beaten and used like she is a prostitute. We were made as a help meet for men not as a punching bag, or a possession that they would use and when they get tired of they just throw out. No, we were made to be loved and cherished.
None of us would ever want to see our daughters being treated like just another piece of meat. As daughters of a King, we should stand up for one another; we should care and help other women who are suffering. As Christian women, we should reach out to the women out there in the world who are feeling like they can't see a way out of their situation. We need to bring the love of Christ to these women so that they can be saved from themselves and from these men who are just using them. We should show other women that they are precious in the sight of God.
It is sad when you hear that women are being killed by their partners, women are committing suicide and even killing their children along with them. Why? Why do they do these things? The answer to that question is clear and simple. They think that there is no way out for them. They believe that all is lost, there's no hope left, no one to turn to or no one understands them. We need to reach out to them, ladies. We need to stand together for one cause - the King and the Kingdom. We need to save these lost women.
But how do we do that, you may ask? Well, to do that we need to get out of our comfort zones. If we want to walk on water, we need to step out of the boat. Look out for these women in your neighborhood, talk to them, make friends with them, introduce Jesus to them, invite them for coffee and fellowship with them, and show them that you care for them and that you want to help them out in whatever situation they are going through. We need to go out of our way to win them for Christ. Jesus went out of His way so that we can be saved. He left His comfort zone and came down to earth to die for us. He stepped out of the boat and walked on the water. We need to do the same. We need to make sacrifices if we want to see others saved. We need to climb up the mountain of prayer and the mountain of sacrifice. Now more than ever, we need to make our voices as Christian women be heard over all the noises around us.
Let us now take a look at some of the leading ladies of the Bible in different situations of life and how they dealt with it.
The Bible is full of many wonderful women. Many of these women have gone through the same situations that most of us today are going through. Many of these would have maybe committed suicide if they did not have faith in God, but you know what kept them? The way they saw and treated themselves, but most importantly their faith and love for God and the things pertaining to God.
A Bitter Woman
Naomi: Ruth 1-4
The story of Naomi tells of a woman who was broken and bitter. She had married young and her husband Elimelech had a huge estate and they had two lovely sons. She had everything she needed. But what happened? Famine struck the land of Bethlehem, Judah, where they lived and they had to move away to the land of Moab to try and survive. Whilst in Moab, she lost both her husband and two sons. She was not a young woman anymore and now she was alone in a strange land with no husband or sons to look after her. All she had were her two daughters-in-law, Orpah and Ruth. Whatever was she going to do now? In those days being a widow and no sons to look after you was hard.
She decided that the time had come for her to return to her homeland. She asked her daughters-in-law to return to their homes as she made her way back home. Orpah went back, but Ruth refused to do so and went along with her to Bethlehem, Judah. When she got there, things were not the same as when she had left years before. Yes, the famine was over, but what had happened to her husband’s estate? It was left in ruins. She had nothing left except the old house, which was also battered down and was not fit to live in. When everyone around was welcoming her back home she stood up and said to them,
"Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt bitterly with me." Ruth 1:20.
Why did she say that? Naomi means joy and Mara means bitter, so why did she not want them to call her Naomi anymore but Mara from now on? Isn’t it great to be called a name that means joy? But she had lost all her joy and she was now a bitter woman which is why she did not want to be called joy anymore.
Many of us today have grown bitter. Maybe you started out as a beautiful, happy, young woman, full of life and joy but now you have grown into a bitter one. What has happened that has made you bitter beloved? What do you do now when your heart is filled with so much bitterness that you can’t even eat or sleep properly? Do you just give up and die or do you find a way to turn your situation around? Naomi could have just given up also. But she kept pressing on in her faith towards God. She kept doing the same things she had done for years; she kept praying that God would change her situation.
She did not know that God had great plans for her life. She thought that she was now too old to do anything but God showed her that she was never too old for Him to use. He gave her daughter -in-law, Ruth another husband from the line of Elimelech, and guess what happened. She bore Obed, who became the father of Jesse, and who became the father of none other than the great king David! Now, do you think that Naomi had any idea what God had in store for her? No she didn’t. All she did was trust in Him and let Him guide her footsteps. She did not know that God had place Ruth in her family so that she would be an ancestor of Jesus Christ Himself. Naomi’s legacy followed her long after she was dead. Still today, her name is mentioned in every Christian churches around the globe.
Now, let me ask you a question. Do you think
