    DEDICATION

I dedicate the third edition of this book to Evangelist Amy Hanna. Sister Amy had been in our church all her life. My wife was with her mother when she was born. Her mother and father, George and Mary Hanna were with me in 1966 when the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of McRae/Beebe, AR was started. Bro. George Hanna built the first pulpit for our church and has been active in three complete building programs at our church.Sis. Mary Hanna was an anointed singer and choir director for many years until her passing. She was like a sister to me throughout my life. I lived with Sister Amy Hanna’s grandparents, Buster and Julie White when I first came to Beebe. Sister Amy has the stellar singing anointing from her mother. Aside from Sister Hanna’s rich Pentecostal heritage she has a much anointed ministry. It has taken her to revivals from the Atlantic to the Pacific. I see qualities in her ministry that should give her a great future in Pentecostal ministry.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

I want to thank everyone who encouraged the writing of this book. I appreciate Jason Scheel and David Hollabaugh for helping with the transport of equipment, help with typing, and proofreading. VaLynn Scheel worked on the final draft and helped to get everything typeset and ready for the printers.

Many ministers drove for miles to attend the lectures. Many men came, but by the very nature of this book I want to thank the following lady ministers who took time from their busy schedules to come: Sis. Ethel Daniel, Jacks Creek, Tennessee; Sis. Jean Holland, Jackson, Mississippi; Sis. Linda Kyzar, Vernon, Illinois; Sis. Marilyn Gazowsky, San Francisco, California; Sis. Agnes Holmes, North Little Rock, Arkansas; Sis. Dianne Pulse; and Sis. Marilyn Tetrick, Jacksonville, Arkansas.

    PREFACE

I would like to explain the purpose for the writing of this book. The purpose of this book is not to generate malice, hatred, bitterness or prejudice toward any of the ministry.

My purpose is to exhibit a cause and a need in this hour that we live in and to defend it at all costs. Our common enemy, the devil, is devising every plan possible to destroy the work of God. This work is not against women alone, but against all that is right and lovely.

Hatred of the ministry existed during Paul’s time. This hatred can be generated by those who do not desire the change ministers require of them.

Some have the opinion that Paul had bad eyesight. While this may be speculation, he does make it plain how people change in the light of the gospel. Where is then the blessedness, ye spake of for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me. Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth? Galatians 4:15-16.

The ministry in general has been plagued with ridicule in the last few years because of some who were false in their living. This fact has caused many others to become discouraged and finally to quit altogether.

It is not my purpose to favor women over men in this treatise. When we realize the pressure on the ministry today, they do not need any more pressure. Satan has hated women ever since God prophesied that it would be the seed of the woman that would bruise the head of the serpent. Genesis 3:15

It is time for the church to lay aside prejudice and opinions and let God be true and every man a liar. Paul instructed the church at Corinth to speak the same things and that division be put away and that we be perfectly joined together.

    I Corinthians 1:10

In the Pentecostal movement there cannot be found a great worldwide revival and a move of God more than twenty-five years old that does not include the outstanding revivals and abilities of women in the ministry.

In the fall of 1990 my church members began to request teaching on the subject of women in the ministry. I did research on this subject and decided to have a series of lectures. Since our church sponsors Lighthouse Christian College it was decided to make professional tapes of the lecture series for sale to the public and for the college as well.

Hearing the tapes are good, but we felt the need to let the public see the transparencies and materials of research as well. This book is a result of that desire.

The lectures are as delivered except for editing for print and minor changes to insure clarity. I have
