About this ebook
Biblical Predestination and the Unconditional Election of Calvinism by Robert Alan King is a book with 11,200 words. Many in the church today are confused about what the Bible really teaches on the subjects of predestination, election of the saints, and God's plan in the salvation process. King explores the biblical text for a thorough understanding about the true basis of predestination. He will discusses important issues such as the fact that the Bible never says we are predestined to belief, but rather to the benefits or results of that belief. King will also expound many key biblical passages used as proof texts by others to support the false teaching of unconditional election. Robert Alan King is an ordained minister through Calvary Chapel and the author of Total Depravity and Free Will.

Introduction
According to the tenants of Calvinism, not only is man totally depraved and unable to come to God on his own, but God has predestined the elect to salvation unconditionally before the foundation of the world based on some mysterious will in which they are unable to explain. They insist that God's election is not because of anything in us or any action that we do or are going to do, including faith and/or repentance. We are solely elected according to his sovereign will, which we do not fully understand.
Many Reformed theologians stretch the boundaries of this doctrine to its extreme limits with what they term double-election
or reprobation,
insisting that God also predestined the rest of mankind to go to hell. Yet, they are not able to explain why God chooses some and passes over others, and we are left only with a random I-pick-him, I-pick-him-not attribute of God's mercy that is not based on the nature, character, or actions of those chosen.
As Meyer rightly points out, while this system prevents any credit or merit from being attributed to the elect for their salvation, it also negates any fault or blame to those not elected who were born total depraved without any personal responsibility of their own for that condition. Nor can those not elected be blamed for remaining in sin and rebellion against God since they cannot free themselves from this condition without the direct intervention of God. There is about as much justice in this judgment of those not elected as there is in continually whipping a boy for being mentally retarded because he won't change his mental state.
While taking into account the theological disagreements and arguments about the basis of predestination, this book will focus primarily on the inspired writings of Scripture for an attempt to understand what God has revealed about this important subject.
In my study of writings on these issues I have found that one of the greatest causes of error in understanding what God has revealed is the failure to place biblical passages in their proper historical context. It appears that many who debate these subjects just like to pluck out verses and apply their own meaning to them rather than trying to discover the point that would have been understood by the original recipient(s). To correctly understand biblical statements today it is absolutely crucial that we strive to comprehend the historical context of the words and to mentally imagine ourselves as the person(s) being spoken to or written to. What would it have meant to us in that historical setting?
Another major cause of erroneous interpretation is ignoring the original meaning of Old Testament passages
