Animal Inspirations - Jonathan Kump
Prologue
Purr the words, amused
in these written observations
or howl each phrase, enthused
of these creatures and creations
they are waiting here inside
in Animal Inspirations...
and their habitat is as wide
as...
as the imagination
Has Anybody Seen My Ferret?
There’s a mouse in the house
And the cat won’t even scare it
There’s a weasel on my easel
And he’s perched there like a parrot
There’s a squirrel on my brother Earl
Yes, it’s true, I swear it
But Has Anybody Seen My Ferret?
There’s an otter drinking water
And he doesn’t want to share it
There’s a lemur on my femur
And I don’t think I can bear it
There’s a possum, o he’s awesome
As he’s chewing on a carrot
But Has Anybody Seen My Ferret?
The raccoon has been here since noon
Running round in squares, it
Seems the mongoose looks a bit chartreuse
I guess that’s pretty rare, it
Seems the bat is trying on a hat
He’s not sure how to wear it
But…
Has Anybody Seen My Ferret?
The Mouse Who Ate A Bear
If we're all telling stories
The one I like to share
Is of the grouse who lived in a house
and The Mouse Who Ate A Bear
This tale is always interesting
Since of course it's so rare
To have a grouse who lives in a house
And a Mouse Who Ate A Bear
I can show you my home and yard
'Cause it occurred right there
That's right the grouse lives in my house
And he saw a mouse eating a bear
The grouse tybed ub this story
And he sbells near berfectly
It's all apout that mouse who scurried
Peneath that nice bear tree
That mouse ate the bear stem and all
And py the very next day
The grouse was aple to write the story
Yes it habbened just that way
Kangaroo
(lively)
When I come back again
I’ll be a Kangaroo
I’ll hop around
Be-bop and bound
And bounce right next
