    Acknowledgements

A project on a grand scale that would prove to catalyze any venture in the entrepreneurial realm of Africa was indeed an interesting task, and most certainly challenging- in that along with providing the key aspects of each country, it is also exceedingly vital to proffer sound advice on the ideal ventures for each country. Through the course of preparing the e-book that we hope will enrich and benefit plenty of entrepreneurs, we would like to thank our volunteers for their invaluable contributions in compiling this book. We are especially grateful to the UNV Online Volunteering program. We would also like to sincerely extend our gratitude to www.doingbusiness.org for offering a step-by-step break up of all the essentials as part of the process for the commencement of a new business venture and Wikimedia Commons for the map images. Our statistical data has been buttressed by those provided by the IMF and the World Bank, and we extend our gratitude to both organizations for the same. Sincere thanks are in order for the AAE team that compiled the data and maintained complete records of the same for the team that put together the e-book itself.

    An insight into Africa’s Economy

Africa’s economy comprises trade, industry and most importantly resources of the people themselves. Africa has been touted as the poorest inhabited continent in the world, and offers a cornucopia of untapped potential located strategically in different parts of the country. Although for several years, Africa has been deemed as being a country struck down by poverty, low life expectancy, violence and instability, the trend has begun to change abundantly over the past few years. Africa is fast evolving as a hotbed of growth and development. The economies of the fastest growing African nations experienced growth significantly above the global average rates.

Despite the current economic downturn, Africa’s economy seems to be progressing towards success at a fairly speedy rate. Africa continues, to date, to be a place of intriguing opportunities for global investors, especially for untapped and nascent industries.

Some of the major sectors in Africa that present perfect business opportunities are:

    • Agriculture

    • Communication and Infrastructure

    • Development

    • Investment and Banking

    • Manufacturing

    • Mining and Drilling

Any entrepreneurship venture in any part of the world would necessitate an analysis of the following issues:

    • Impetus of business

    • Mode of Operations

    • Risk factors

With a confluence of resources and plenty of untapped potential, Africa is the perfect spot for any new entrepreneurial venture. In the coming pages, the basic economic details for each country in Africa are listed. Along with a brief mention of the key factors, there are also a couple of suggestions for ideal economic ventures in each country.
