About this ebook

This book attempts to decipher the Book of Revelation using a modern, non-religious interpretation and tries to picture the visions which John was shown 2000 years ago, in terms of today’s modern world.

It is obvious that if the visions he saw were of the “End Times” or after 1948, as the End Times have been defined, then his visions would of necessity have included modern artifacts such as aircraft, cars, helicopters and skyscrapers, for which he had no vocabulary to describe. He could not have seen true prophecies of the End Times without seeing these modern inventions. If we look carefully and with understanding at his “visions”, we will see all these modern artifacts, if we allow for his lack of knowledge of the "End Times" and his limited vocabulary.

Finally, we must learn from John’s mistakes. He interprets the persons with him in the place where he is receiving the visions, as “Angels” and the leader as “Christ”. When he falls down to worship one of the “angels”, he is told in no uncertain terms by the angel in question, not to do it, because “I am just a fellow servant like you”

It is my contention that the individuals in what I name “the control room”, where the visions are being shown, are normal human beings trying to do a job of preparing humanity for “what must come to pass”. Who these people were and how they could see, let alone show, these visions to John is beyond the scope of this book. It could be the subject of another book at a later date but not knowing who these people were, or where they came from does not detract from the validity of the interpretation of the visions.

The arguments and explanations in this book are, I hope, clear, well reasoned, cross referenced and entirely plausible, knowing the period to which the revelations refer and readers are invited to judge the validity of the interpretations for themselves.

    Foreword

The Book of Revelation is the last book of the New Testament, written by John in approximately 93 AD. It is supposed to contain prophecies of what will happen in the End Times, before the return of The Messiah and after Israel is living safely in its own country (Jeremiah 23 v 5/8). These prophecies are therefore relevant only from 1948 onwards.

Unfortunately, the book is largely ignored by Christians, because it is filled with references to beasts, dragons, Satan, fire & brimstone and other non-worldly entities and images which modern civilization has decided are not relevant today.

People through the ages have tried and failed to decipher these prophecies. It is obvious, as you will see as the prophecies unfold, that they could not possibly have been understood until after 1948 and then only when the prophecies had already been fulfilled. What then, is the purpose of the Book of Revelation?

If you met a man who could demonstrate conclusively that he had given your friend a list of the last 10 consecutive winners at Newmarket, you would probably be inclined to believe that he could predict the next winner. You might even put a bet on it!

So it is with the Book of Revelation. When a large proportion of the prophecies are seen to have obviously been fulfilled, you should be inclined to believe that the most important event, The Final Prophecy, is worthy of some attention.

Unlike the other prophecies in The Book of Revelation, this one is quite clear and unambiguous, before it happens. We will deal with this prophecy at length, later in this book, after you have seen the prophecies which have been fulfilled so far and the few which are yet to happen

The thought occurred to me, many years ago, while watching a TV news bulletin during the Gulf War, that the smoke coming from the burning oil wells in Kuwait was like the reference in The Book of Revelation to smoke going up from the bottomless pit. Following developments noticed through the continual news broadcasts, it soon became clear that this period also identified the War in Heaven between Michael and Satan and also the identity of the Beast 666.

As we progress through this book, you will find that the prophecies about Satan and the Beast do not refer to the mythical Satan or an actual beast. They are merely words used by the author, some 2000 years ago, to describe objects for which he did not have the necessary vocabulary to express correctly.

So please read the first chapter of this book with an open mind, where you will be amazed to see that the vision of The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse has already happened and was described, in detail by John, over 2000 years ago.

You may not even be aware of all the details of this event, but luckily, today, you can check everything on Google to verify exactly what happened and check that they were as claimed in this book.

You will discover here the amazing predictions which have already come to pass, including the creation of the State of Israel, the attack on the World Trade Centre, the Gulf War, the identity of The Two Beasts rising out of the sea, and many others.

I will deal with the Final Prophecy at length and discuss in non-religious terms what it really means. What no one can know is when it will happen, except that it will not be until all the other prophecies have been fulfilled and there are very few of these!

Christians and non-Christians alike will probably be shocked by the Final Prophecy, because the Book of Revelation completely contradicts the teachings of the established churches and the belief of its followers. Even those who think there may be another, spiritual existence after death, will be shocked by the revelation of the final prophecy.

The establishment will undoubtedly try to wriggle out of the apparent discrepancies, by claiming that The Book of Revelation is a rogue gospel but we will compare this prophecy with the actual teachings of Jesus and will find that what he said actually confirms the predictions in the Book of Revelation.

    Chapter 1

INTRODUCTION TO THE BOOK OF REVELATION

After the first 3 chapters, which are letters to various churches in Asia Minor and do not seem to be in any way prophetic, John’s actual Revelation starts at Chapter 4.

You will see, as we proceed through the prophecies, that this prophecy is actually not the first chronologically. Nor are subsequent prophecies necessarily in chronological order. Prophecies are sometimes broken up, with some verses placed outside the main text of the prophecy. Nevertheless, the displaced verses are usually so unique and so incredibly relevant, that there can be no doubt that they relate to the same prophecy.

    Revelation Ch 4:

After this I looked, and lo, in heaven an open door! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, Come up hither, and I will show you what must take place after this.

At once I was in the Spirit, and lo, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne! And he who sat there appeared like jasper and carnelian, and round the throne was a rainbow that looked like an emerald.

Round the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, clad in white garments, with golden crowns upon their heads.

    From the throne issued flashes of lightning, and voices and peals of thunder, and before the throne burn seven lamps, which are the seven spirits of God;

6 and before the throne there is, as it were, a sea of glass, like crystal. And round the throne, on each side of the throne, are four living creatures, full of eyes in front
