WELCOME TO THE END OF THE WORLD!
Disease-K has decimated the world leaving its victims shambling homicidal maniacs. And nestled along the warm Gulf waters sits Gulf Shores...the last outpost of civilization. THE SHADOWS ARE GATHERING OUTSIDE OF TOWN!
There, in the sands and marshes of the Gulf of Mexico, the citizens of Gulf Shores along with scattered military units, a downed Air Force pilot, and a lone Coast Guard cutter form the last line of defense against the amassing horde of the infected marching its way toward the sea destroying what is left of humanity along the way.
As summer gives way to the fall and the cold winds blow off the sea, Gulf Shores draws the line and prepares to make the...

Review:When I started this book I was a bit worried it reminded me to closely of another that I reviewed several months ago. It did, but that's OK. Last Stand On Zombie Island quickly held it's own and while I did find faults in the end it didn't matter. Christopher Eger provided solid plot and characters and for that I can look past the resemblance to my past read. That being said I want to share The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of Last Stand on Zombie Island. The GoodThe Characters- While the roles of the islanders broke down into what I would call stereotypical pattern the characters themselves were written well and engaging. My favorite character was Spud. While I didn't necessarily like him I respected the initiative he took after the initial outbreak happened. The rest of the island was quick to dismiss him as being nothing but a young punk but had they taken a moment they would of found a very resourceful individual amongst them.World Building- I felt the Author did a great job building up the days before the outbreak without bogging down the book with endless chapters chronicling it. I also was satisfied with the overall world building it was easy to picture an Island vs. large city catastrophe. Yes devastation is still bad but you have more choices for Survival since you can isolate the town easier. The BadThe Bridge- At first I understood why they kept it around but as the book went on and explosives and other material became accessible I just cannot figure out why they kept it intact. While the bridge point annoyed me another I found unforgivable but that point will come later. The Submarine- It was a plot device gone wrong. I love the use of a Sub but the way it entered the story I expected something different and instead it turned out to be just a convenient way for the book to wrap up.The UglyThe Wall- More than the Bridge and the Sub, the Wall hastily being erected at the end bugged me most of all. This blasted bridge was the only land based entrance into the town. If your not going to blow it wouldn't it be worthwhile to I don't know build a wall blocking it off? Only when danger is upon them do they scramble to build a wall which shocker fails. From that moment on I could pretty much see how it would end. Had they just built the wall in the beginning and then had it fail it would of provided that element of surprise. Instead I just felt sorta cheated from this spectacular climax that ultimately happened.Final ThoughtsOverall Last Stand on Zombie Island was a solid read. I found myself caring about the characters and liked the use of Sea based survival and travel. This book had a little something for everyone and most impressively the military detail the author provided showed he really researched his stuff. I will be giving Last Stand On Zombie Island ★★★★.
