About this ebook
Short Story Press Presents Squire Ryanus by David Beaver.
The short story fantasy ‘Squire Ryanus’ follows the young aspiring Paladin on his quest to prove his worth to the Order of Majestic Truth, a prestigious order of Paladins who strive to keep the forces of evil at bay. In order to gain his title and rise from squire to Paladin, he must obtain an important artifact of the guild simply described as The Shield of Light. The artifact has been stolen by bloodthirsty savages whom he will have to track and fight while meeting a cast of quirky and colorful characters to help him along the way.
“The story is a traditional sword and sorcery adventure fantasy and seems pretty straightforward, but as with all my stories, I try to emphasize there is a deeper meaning,” David explained. “It’s really symbolic of the journey that we all take in life and especially the journey to pursue ones dream. Ryanus has sacrificed his childhood and his family to pursue his dream of becoming a Paladin. What are we willing to sacrifice in the pursuit of our dreams? Will we devote ourselves and our lives completely to achieving an end?”
“Almost every bold journey we embark on starts us off on a lonely road of solitude,” Mr. Beaver added. “But just like in the story, we meet the most amazing, and sometimes the most unusual people to help us along the way. No man is an island, they say, and it’s true. Ryanus could not have completed his journey alone, and really neither can we. Plus, the characters we meet in life make our life stories so much more interesting.”
