The Book of Sandara - Allan Conan

My mind sees into the future’s past as time waves lap on distant shores where no man has been before.

I, the warrior man embarking on my life’s journey to face all that come before me with bravery.

Into unknown lands I travel to learn new things.

On my finger I wear the dragon ring given to me by my fair maiden that will guide me on my way.

Entering the harbor of my heart I disembark in a strange land of tongues I cannot understand.

Holding my sword at my side and in its comfort felt I put my first foot on the land and made my way there.

The land was rich with all manner of growing things and no one was at want.

Their clothes were of the finest silk and they adorned themselves with gold.

They lived in the finest of houses made of white marble that glistened in the sun like pearls.

Bread was of plenty, disease unknown.

The climate was always warm, never too hot or cold.

Rains came to the crops when needed and their fertile fields made them never want.

Amazed as I was, I stood.

Never, in all my travels, in past or future times, had I ever seen such a land of plenty.

    But the people were sad.

Not one smile could I find.

Approaching the wisest of them all I asked in my tongue.

In his answer, I understood, they knew not of love.

He laid at my feet a golden treasure.

Then with bowed head and tears in his eyes he begged me the distant stranger to teach them of love.

All that they had they would give in return to know of love.

Though in plenty they lived with no want there was a hole in their heart that needed filling.

For it ached from the morning until the night of every day of their lives.

And so they brought me tea and sweets.

Then they all sat in front of me.

Teach us of love they all said.

So I lay my sword to the side and removing my cloak I sat.

I will speak of love so that you may learn the way and fill the ache in your hearts.

    What is love?

Love is the trust in another, that they will never break your heart.

Love is the truth spoken, with no lies or a hidden heart.

Love is the giving of thy self, to the other freely.

With no thought of a reward.

Love is placing another above all else

Love is in the listening to their heart and thought

Love is in the respect of another and who they are.

But above all love is a divine and holy thing that must be treasured above all else every day and every hour.

It must be nourished and never forgotten.

Just as you pray to your gods, you must make daily offerings and sacrifices to love. So that she will always be at your
