About this ebook

A flash of light followed by a thundering boom shook the old cracker-shack. Hank cursed the summer storm and prayed he wouldn't lose his cable TV again. Not during his favorite show...Dang, Colonel O'Neal was just about to...bang, something big and heavy hit the side of his house.
Now what, Hank thought. He got up and walked to his front door. On his way he snags his 12 gauges Remington pump and chambered a round with his thumb took the safety off.
Hank always had a shotgun ready. His theory was you never knew when one of those Ghuy-oloes might show up at Ripple Point.
An armed Hank jerks opened the door and scanned the porch. Rain poured down in sheets and the porch spotlights are lost in the torrents of rain. Nothing.
Suddenly, to his right a giant shape stumbled toward him. It moaned, or was the sound a growl?
Growl? That isn’t right. It was all the invitation Hank needed. Shotgun ccame up with a practiced ease and roared. Double ought buck smacked the flesh of the dark mass full in the chest, but the shape staggered on. What?

Larry Brasington

As an author I the stories I write are ones I want to read. Having grown up in the Black and White movie days I saw every black and white Horror film, Detective Story and war movie I could. The Thin Man, Kansas City Connection, Maltese Falcon, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Original Thing, the Day the Earth Stood Still, D-Day, Iwo Jima, Rhodan, Godzilla, just to name a few. I devoured books about American history. My first published story in 1968, “Temple in the Swamp”, a H. P. Lovecraft like tale, which might have been the start of my zombie phase. I enjoy writing stories that I would like to read. Currently I have published three novels: “Alien Madness” a science fiction tale, “Unholy War: the Brandenburgers—Russia 41” an alternative history-fantasy, and “Beyond the Wall” a historical adventure set in 168 AD in Scotland. I currently have a series of stories about Shane Eiland, Elf Detective called “Sum Yung Gye” and “The Case of the Missing Husband”. These are Noir style mysteries with a super hero flavor are my favorites and I hope the reader will enjoy them to.

Hank fired again. This time, the menacing figure dropped with a heavy thud.

What have I just done? Hank leaned over and tried to see. What in tar-nations is this? A man-size shape lay on the wood porch. Another blast of rain slapped Hank. Need a flashlight. He turned and marched back inside his cabin.

A quick glance at the TV showed the final credits rolling by. Damn, missed it. Picking up a big, five-battery flashlight, Hank headed back to the porch. Outside lightning danced all over Ripple Point, striking the swamp again and again. The smell of burnt
