    Author's Note

There have been stories through the ages about apparitions of dead people appearing to the living.

Ghosts are spirits of dead people. Some are our loved ones who have died, while others are tormented souls seeking justice or help. Some are walking the earth to help us. Ghosts usually mean no harm to the living.

Poltergeists on the other hand are a different sort of spirit. Some are nonentities whose interactions can range from cold drafts, foul smells, odd sounds and sometimes they inflict physical abuse upon the living.

In a way, I believe I was chosen to tell the story, even though I had never met these people when they were alive.

This is my true story of ghostly encounters with the spirits of dead people.

    Chapter 1

A Sign of Things to Come

A Person starts dying when they stop dreaming.

    ~ Brian Williams

    Wake Up!

    Jeannie, wake up!

I tried opening my eyes, and climbing out of the deep sleep and the heavenly dream.

I glanced at the clock by my bed. Half past three.

I looked up at the person standing at my bedside. Something leaped up inside me.

I had never seen this man before.

I saw he was holding my car keys in one hand, while using the other to shake me.

My eyes were open, but I wasn't able to fully comprehend who this person was.

I vaguely heard a voice saying, Wake up!

    My eyelids were growing heavy.

Soon, I drifted back to dozing, and the delightful vision I was having before I was disturbed.

I loved being back in the dream and inside the fantastic, celestial realm with glorious angels all around me.

I dreamed I was an angel with wings that sparkled like diamonds and gold.

    Jeannie inside her heavenly dream

I heard the angels saying, They are dead!

Instantly, my enchanting, blissful dream turned topsy-turvy and dark.

The beautiful angels were melting before my eyes. I watched their Heavenly appearance morphing into another image.

They walked closer, and circled around me.

    I looked at the angels.

What I set eyes on filled me with terror.

I saw the faces of death.

Instantly, I found myself surrounded by horrendous anomalies.

Walking beside me, and meandering all around were zombie-like creatures that looked lik the walking dead.

I did not know how these creatures lived or died.

I did not know what happened to the angels.

What I did know was these creatures were not alive, and I had to get away from them before they took me to a place I did not want to go.

    I started running.

In my haste to get away from the spiritless beings, I did not realize I was standing on top of a high mountain that stretched far above the surrounding land.

Suddenly, I was naked, and falling off a cliff. Just before I hit the ground, I woke up.

Did my dream mean the end of the world, or the end of me?

    Chapter 2

    Trip to New York City

Give thanks for unknown blessings already on their way.

    ~ Native American Indian

Many people believe that ghosts and poltergeists do exist, while others hold a skeptical view about spirits or ghosts.

I must say, I was among the latter, until I experienced for myself a close encounter with ghosts. Just to let you know, you might have a ghost around you, and not even know it. But, when they want to be noticed, they will get your attention.

    Jeannie in Texas

I had recently moved to New York from Texas. Unlike the sunny days of Dallas, I found the daylight hours in the Big Apple often wrapped in a grey gloom from the towering buildings that made up downtown.

    New York City

Wintertime in New York was quite different from the warm winter months of Texas.

In Texas, it hardly ever snowed. But, in New York City snow piles up along the streets and byways as the winter storms bring fierce, freezing winds whipping off the Atlantic Ocean that rips right through multiple layers of clothing leaving a person cold and shivering.

It didn't take long for me to discover I was ill prepared for my stay in the Big Apple, especially since I didn't have the preferred cold weather attire.

Never for one minute did I imagine that I was once again going to stumble upon ghostly apparitions. I had encountered spirits of dead people in the past and I was aware from my personal experiences that they exist. But, little did I know,
