About this ebook

One year after the Michaluk Virus decimated the southeast, Ethan Bennett and his six companions have become as close as family while facing the trials of living in a drastically changed world. Then a mysterious woman arrives at their safe house in Alabama, pleading for assistance in getting into Atlanta. Despite their suspicions that the woman is hiding important information, Ethan and his friends agree to help. But when they’re suddenly forced to flee from the infected, the cohesion the group cultivated is shattered.

As members of the group succumb to the escalating dangers on their path, new alliances form, new loves develop, and old friendships crumble. In the face of unending horror, one man is forced to make the ultimate sacrifice to save his friends, while another reveals secrets that could hold the key to humanity’s survival.

"A great followup to Jessica Meigs's debut novel... It's an action-packed, heart-wrenching, blood-churning tale of zombie mayhem with a good dose of heart."--Rhiannon Frater, author of the AS THE WORLD DIES trilogy

"A fantastic continuation of the series... but with more action, more emotion, more violence, which, of course, leads to more deaths/kills."--Heather Faville, Doubleshot Reviews

I made it 58% of the way through this book before I just had to stop. The characters are one-dimensional and stereotypical. The developing romantic subplot is of little interest to me. The squabbling between two supposedly grown men is irritating. The constant telling me how strong the female lead is is irritating. Show me, don't tell me. Especially don't tell me with cumbersome sentences like this: "It made her feel a bit embarrassed, a bit like the helpless female that she knew she wasn't." There is one little tweak to the zombies in here, but it's nothing I haven't seen in a few other stories. I'm over halfway through, and I've found nothing genuinely exciting or original. I'm moving on to the next thing.
