Vanessa Canevaro

Vanessa Canevaro grew-up on a farm outside of Muenster, Saskatchewan Canada. She was 5 years old when she realized that she wanted to become a writer and the journey towards her writing life started. After graduating from high school, Vanessa headed off to the big city to continue her education, while leaving her young son behind in the loving hands of her parents and family. After realizing there was no way she could handle seeing her baby only on weekends after attending a full week of college, she moved back into her parents house and began working. Being a single mother was difficult and writing was always pushed aside in order to learn how to live as a single parent and juggle a life scratching out a very small income for her and her child. In 1990, Vanessa's world had an incredible change when her future husband walked into her life. One year later the two were married and seven months after their second son was born. Now young parents to two little boys the couple struggled to make ends meet, all the while fully determined that Vanessa stay home to raise the children. Those years were very difficult and often loose change would be scraped together to buy formula and diapers for their babies. Never did the two give up on their dreams of having a life filled with happiness and fortune. Their small family grew to 5 when in 1997 their third and last son was born. Now their family was complete and the future looked bright for they could see prosperity on the horizon. In 1998 Vanessa's father passed away and it was then that she realized her writing career needed to start. It looked like the years of submitting her children's book manuscripts to publishing companies finally paid off when she was offered a 6 book publishing deal with a company in the United States, but within a few months the company went bankrupt and her writing dreams shattered. Perseverance and an attitude that nothing could be as difficult as the early years of her family's life, Vanessa kept going and kept writing. In 2007 her children's book I Want a Dragon was published followed by her children's first chapter book Zero the Superhero in 2009. Both met with great success. Her first adult historical thriller novel Of Lions and Lambs was released in January of 2014 and the follow-up novel is in progress. Vanessa lives in Alberta, Canada with her family and writing has now become her full-time pursuit.
