About this ebook
During the swing era, the John Kirby Orchestra was a phenomenon unlike any other in jazz. Acclaimed jazz writer, Nate Hentoff once said,"This famous sextet was so together that other musicians marveled at the collective precision of their brialliant display of musicianship." The band included; Charlie Shavers - trumpet, O'Neil Spencer - drums, Russell Procope - sax, Buster Bailey - clarinet, Billy Kyle - pianist. Maxine Sullivan sung vocals on their first hit "Loch Lomond" in 1938. Flow Gently Sweet Rhythm, 2017 is their story. It's one the greatest jazz stories ever written.
