Not interested enough to even contemplate finishing it off. It simply felt formulaic and that is not what I am looking for right now. Perhaps one day I could return if I even felt the need to read of fantasy-Scots within a run-of-the-mill story.

I very much enjoyed this once I understood what it was: Not a straight fantasy story, but one of the most original King Arthur retellings it has been my pleasure to encounter. The opening of the first book is a bit confusing, and reads almost more like historic fiction/romance for a few chapters before becoming a fantasy series. This book and this series is for someone who enjoyed Alexander's Chronicles of Prydain/Watson's retelling of the Mabinogi, and also enjoyed Mary Stewart's Merlin trilogy. It is a wonderful companion to the others.
