    Before there were ever such things as political affiliations or even different races of men stood a principle that the varied annals of history haven't yet dismantled, neither do I imagine they will anytime soon.

    Pursuit. Man, by nature is a creature of it, and he's been that way since the beginning of time. It's by way of pursuit that we all become runners in a marathon of acquisition. So much so that on any given night in countless arenas across the globe hundreds of athletes in many a sport battle for the right to say they were the victorious, the non-apprehended, that they were the ones who acquired.

    So it goes with Edwin C. Gwynn. He too has dreams, goals, and accomplishments to be attained; much like you, I suppose. For we all have our own trophies to contest for. Edwin's selfless approach to life may be a point of contention itself, for some. But this is not the tale of several victories won, after all. This is the story of what happens when one man lets all his other passions fall by the wayside for the chance of capturing only one.

    That's what Mrs. Walker's high-pitched soprano had screeched into the phone some forty-five minutes earlier. Edwin knew full well he should have double checked for other stoppages. But he’d asked her several times, and in spite of her untimely knack for forgetfulness - as most eighty-five year old women have - he figured the old lady knew what she was talking about. Had he chosen to he could have just fixed the leak and left things as they were, only to return a few weeks later - or a few months at the most.
