    Prologue

After yet another fight Drew had gone over to his brother Caleb’s house. Stacy had once again talked to Drew about taking an internship in New York City for the summer. Drew didn’t want her to take the internship wanting the summer to be just for them. Ever since Stacy turned down his marriage proposal in December things between them had been tense. Stacy feed up with the touch and go nature of their relationship decided on her own she was going to just pack up and catch a plane to New York for the internship. Drew couldn’t even stick around to have an adult conversation about important decisions. How did he think he could handle being a husband?

Stacy had her bags in her hand and a taxi waiting outside. She wrote a quick good-bye letter to Drew leaving her apartment key on the table right next to it. Taking a look at the life she was leaving behind she began to tear up. She had been with Drew since their freshman year in college. They had had their ups and downs but they always seemed to stick it out. But with their last year of college and graduation coming up their lives just seemed to be going in separate directions. Stacy wasn’t about to put her life and dreams on hold just to be with Drew. She loved him but she couldn’t make him her whole life. She had to do what was in the end best for both of them.

    Chapter 1

The drive from Manhattan to Westhampton only took three and a half hours. The traffic hadn’t been all that bad. Stacy Chambers’ head reporter for New News Daily had been given the job of spending the weekend in the Hamptons to cover the wedding of model Becca Sanders and NBA star Drew Hamilton. When Stacy had first been offered the job she immediately turned it down. She wanted nothing to do with the wedding of Drew Hamilton her ex-boyfriend from college. But after begging and persuasion from her close friend Becca she caved and took the job even though she knew the weekend would be awkward. Stacy hadn’t seen Drew since she left him the summer before their senior year of college. She had packed her bags and left a note on their kitchen table along with her house key. They had been sharing an apartment for almost two years when she called it quits. In all they had dated for about three years.

Stacy had never really recovered from the break up. She had thought at most Drew would call her and ask her to come back to him. But he didn’t. He had just accepted that she moved on with her life. She knew he surely moved on with his with no problem. She had only wanted to become a successful journalist. She never understood why her dreams weren’t as important as his. He was on his way to the NBA and she knew she wanted more to life than living in the shadows of a basketball-playing husband. Drew had proposed to her five months before she left. She told him she couldn’t commit to marriage yet but that
