Author

Natalie G. Owens

Pink velvet and black lace. Light and darkness. A world of contrasts exists in Natalie’s stories because every rose has its thorn. Her favourite stories to write are romances with a dark edge featuring brooding heroes, strong heroines, an intriguing mystery, and a good dash of fantasy.Married, with one son, she now calls the beautiful island of Malta home after eleven good years in Atlanta, GA. As a professional editor and author, her days are always busy, but when she’s not working—or muttering to herself about her book plots like a batty old maid—she enjoys spending time with family and friends (both online and offline), sipping on a good shiraz, reading, cooking and entertaining, watching a good movie, travelling, and ogling shoe store displays. Most of all, she loves to meet and communicate with other authors and readers.Find out more about Natalie’s latest news and works in her monthly newsletter – http://eepurl.com/povjfYou can also find her here (she’s waiting to make new friends!):Website: www.nataliegowens.comFacebook profile page: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=563297082Facebook author page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Natalie-G-Owens-Author/24911987111Twitter: https://twitter.com/#!/natalie_g_owensGoogle Plus: https://plus.google.com/u/1/115212743960662992349/postsPinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/nataliegowens/Amazon Author Page: http://www.amazon.com/Natalie-G.-Owens/e/B007N4UHJ0iBooks: https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/natalie-g.-owens/id550919854Goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/4527498-natalie-g-owens

    Prologue

A message from Jeanette Lagrange, founder of Moonlight Love Match:

As I’ve always maintained, love is often brought about by happenstance. It is no rocket science, but it has to do with nature, intuition, and people being at the same place at the right time. There could also be a little meddling involved, of course. *smile* For Cupid to strike, sometimes Fate needs a little nudge. After all, we can only succeed through helping ourselves first and then, by experiencing a little luck.

So many claim that finding Mr. or Mrs. Right is like searching for a needle in a haystack. I believe it’s all a matter of perspective. The process could be easy or it could be difficult—and here is where someone like me could move matters along a tad.

Why do people find love such a tricky, daunting thing? Mind you, when I say ‘finding love,’ I don’t necessarily mean a new feeling or something we’ve never experienced in the past. Sometimes, we’ve already been there—felt that odd flutter in our belly, seen the stars in our eyes, been awed by someone’s presence and voice so much, we couldn’t let go.

Then, somehow, at some point down the line, things fall apart. Relationships that once held so much promise crumble to dust. Where once there was love, there is now bitterness, resentment, and regret. We become cynical and tell ourselves, Never again! We embrace loneliness, as much as it pains us and overwhelms us in certain moments. Suddenly, we’re not our carefree, confident selves anymore. We become this new person we have to come to grips with. And through it all, we tell ourselves we’re better off.

And sometimes, we truly are. Some relationships were never meant to be. Yet, others…

All in all, though, how can we impose our will on life? How can we tell ourselves we’ll never go down a certain road again? Put limitations on our emotions? If we live by reason alone, perhaps—but we’re only human, aren’t we?

What we can do is to figure out where we’ve been so we can more clearly see where we wish to go. There is always hope, always a chance to find connection again, if we leave ourselves open.

Sometimes, also, life gives us second chances, and when those happen, we need to decide: will we be ready to go for it again, to take the risk, or shall we allow pride to steal the opportunity to create a fresh, renewed connection with the person we’ve greatly cherished in the past?

We can let go or hold on. The choice is ours.

But if we let our heart and intuition show us the way, we would rarely be wrong.

    Yours,

    Jeanette

    Chapter One

    Dane.

Lisbeth Marsh, brand-spanking-new divorcee, gaped at her ex-husband who stood uncertainly on her doorstep.

He’d showed up just as she was about to wind down and settle with a bowl of chicken and rice salad and an action movie. Standing there, he looked about as out of place as a ghost at a gathering of skeptics.

She clutched the side of the front door, a conscious action that set tiny tingling fires on the underside of her fingers. Blood rushed to her hand as she pressed the tense digits on the rigid wood, wanting nothing more than to break it into splinters and
