21 Days To Improve Your Job Search - Brian Bigelow

    Introduction

This book is one where I have endeavored to create 21 days worth of tips and techniques for you. This is so that you can be more successful in finding your next job, or even better a new career. All of these tips and techniques are ones that helped me a lot the last several years. In 2007 through 2010 each year I had to hunt for employment because I was either laid-off or fired from each of the jobs that I had held. During that time it was so very easy to lose your job, easier than any other time has been since I joined the job market. There has been more than once where I was working I was still employed, but the call center I worked in was mostly empty. A few weeks before every seat had been filled with fellow employees until the layoffs and firings began.

These tips and techniques therefore are the very things that I have found the most useful for myself. In many cases these tips and techniques greatly shortened my job searches, the longest time being four months in 2008. All of the other times I managed to find a new job in two months or less and this was when the unemployment rate was over 9%. You probably won't use every one of these tips and techniques but you will at least find a couple that will help you out quite a bit. If you can use every one of them then I really have done my job in this book very well. My every wish is that you are successful, that you never need to find and read another book on job hunting. You'll find the career that is a great fit for you and that you'll never have to hunt for a job again.

Each chapter is meant to be read one chapter per day for a 21 day period. Since you don't have a lot of time for reading probably all of the chapters are all fairly short and won't take you long to read. My idea is not to overwhelm you with a lot of information that you don't really need. Mostly it is what I feel is useful to you as it has been for me. There also a very few things that were not available during my job hunts that I feel will be useful also. In fact I know I'll be using them, especially some of the internet tools if I have to hunt for a job again. So let's get started on 21 days to improve your job search so that you be successful as quickly as possible.

    Day 1

    Temporary jobs

    "The emphasis should be

on why we do a job."

    W. Edwards Deming

There are many temporary jobs out there regardless of how the economy is doing at any time. Many of them can look really good on a resume or application if it applies to the job you are trying for at the moment. While there is of course the temp agency jobs that
