Don’t read this unless your a straight girl who has literally nothing to do but laugh at a god awful self hating book. For a book that was written by a woman is really sexist. I as bi person am offended by all things in this book.

    Just don’t fucking read it.

Heath lay in bed cradling his beautiful wife against him. Each languid breath she took made her shift so slightly he had to focus to be aware of it. She was small, almost a foot shorter than him, and she’d grown so thin. When he held her in his arms him he never felt the jutting bones he saw. Only the smooth warm skin of a woman so slight he could crush her with a hug.

Abbie looked at him and screamed. He tensed and tried to sooth her, but the scream transmuted into a disturbing stilted pattern.

Like an alarm clock.

Heath jolted up and smashed the button on top of his bleating clock. He felt those harrowing moments of morning amnesia. Where’s Abbie? Why isn’t she in bed? And then the stab of anguish.

He scrubbed a hand over his face. Oh God. He wished he could just go back to the dream.

He drew in a deep breath as if it would extinguish the burning pain inside him. Then he threw off his covers. Shower. Shave. Get into uniform. Choke down some toast and coffee.

He crossed the room to his dresser but didn’t open it. The six-pack of boxers he’d picked up yesterday sat on top. He opened it rather than sift through the dirty underwear scattered on the bathroom floor. Laundry hadn’t been done since—since—last month, when Abbie did it. Even if he had the will to do it he didn’t know how to work the fucking machine.

Heath paused a moment to look around at the squalor he’d fallen into. A dirty plate on the floor. Clothes scattered all over the place. Fruit peels rotting in the trash can he never emptied.

Fuck.

He forced himself into his grimy shower.

Heath didn’t want to eat lunch, but knew starving himself just made him feel worse. He pulled the squad car into a
