    8 This book of the law shall be on your lips, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may obey all that is written in it: then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.

    Joshua 1

    Bible Verses

    Matthew 1

    18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ happened the following way: When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. 19 And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privately. 20 But when he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, fear not to take to you Mary your wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she shall bring forth a son; and you shall call his name JESUS; for it is he that shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this is come to pass, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,

    23 Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, And they shall call his name Immanuel;

    which is, being interpreted, God with us. 24 And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took unto him his wife; 25 and knew her not till she had brought forth a son: and he called his name JESUS.

    Matthew 3

    1 And in those days comes John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, saying, 2 Repent; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. 3 For this is he that was spoken of through Isaiah the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ready the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight.

    4 Now John himself had his garments of camel’s hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his food was locusts and wild honey. 5 Then he went out him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about the Jordan; 6 and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. 7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bring forth fruit worthy of repentance: 9 and think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say to you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham. 10 And even now the axe lies at the root of the trees: every tree therefore that brings not forth good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire. 11 I indeed baptize you in water in repentance: but he that comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire: 12 whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing-floor; and he will gather his wheat into the garner, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.

    13 Then comes Jesus from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized of him. 14 But John would have hindered him, saying, I have need to be baptized of you, and do you come to me? 15 But Jesus answering said to him, Let us do this now: for thus it becomes us to fulfill all righteousness. Then John complied. 16 And Jesus when he was baptized, went up straightway from the water: and lo, the heavens were opened up to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon him; 17 and lo, a voice out of the heavens, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

    Matthew 12

    1 At that season Jesus went on the sabbath day through the grain fields; and his disciples were hungry and began to pluck ears of corn and eat. 2 But the Pharisees, when they saw it, said to him, Behold, your disciples do that which it is not lawful to do on the sabbath. 3 But he said to them, Have you not read what David did, when he was hungry, and they that were with him; 4 how he entered into the house of God, and ate the bread, which it was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them that were with him, but only for the priests? 5 Or have you not read in the law, that on the sabbath day the priests in the temple defile the sabbath, and are guiltless? 6 But I say to you, that one greater than the temple is here. 7 But if you had known what this means, I desire mercy, and not sacrifice, you would not have
