      I am sitting in my favorite canal-side tavern in Seatopia, enjoying a fine glass of autumn wine, when the whole world suddenly explodes.

      Well, this is damned inconvenient.

      All at once, I’m in a place like nowhere I’ve ever seen or heard of before. Now, I am not what you’d call inexperienced. As a wealthy man, a bard, a former diplomat, a one-hundred-and-nineteen-year-old elf, and a moderately skilled practitioner of the magical arts, I have traveled much of the World-Sea, and heard about nearly all the rest. Yet, in this place, surrounded by whirling galaxies and flaring multi-colored stars, I feel certain that I am not only far from home, but completely out of my depth.
