    Introduction

    Let’s look at the reality of marketing: advertising is a cost. Yes, it is one that helps to generate income, but it is still a cost. And if it doesn’t work, it is a massive sinkhole that swallows all your available cash and more. Remember that every dollar you spend on advertising comes straight off your bottom line; and if there is no return then you have wasted that money and all the effort that went into earning it.

    So you really need to ensure your advertising is as effective as it can be. You really want to make sure that you get the maximum return EVERY time you advertise.

    This eBook is not a negotiation training manual; it isn’t about saving money when you book your advertising. What it is about is helping you understand how to get a better results from your advertising, and better results mean you don’t have to advertise as often (save money), or you can advertise more often to get even better results (increase revenue).

    This eBook is also about developing a better, stronger relationship with your customers; and that, very quickly, saves you thousands on your advertising budget. Or it earns you even more turnover from the same advertising spend.

    Let’s say you want to get 50 brand impressions in front of your customer or prospect. You could:

    Buy a package of 150 radio ads and hope that 1 in 3 adverts gets heard by the same person ($$$)

    Buy a package of 150 TV ads and hope the same thing (even more $$$$$)

    Buy an ad in the local daily paper for 50 days or 50 Saturdays ($$$$)

    Hope that people visit your website 50 times (extremely unlikely)

    Buy space on 50 billboards along the same stretch of highway (not likely to be available, let alone affordable)

    OR, you could send your customer or prospect a pad of 50 stick-on notes (costing you a lot less than a cup of coffee).

    Stick-on notes? (They’re also known as Post-It Notes – that’s the registered 3M company brand). Now let me explain how they will work for you.

    People will write a reminder on their stick-on note, and then stick it somewhere (on the computer, on the fridge, on the front door, on the mirror, on the car dash, etc) to remind themselves. They see your brand when they write the note, and they see it again when they get the reminder. Actually, that means the possibility of up to 100 brand impressions from the same 50-leaf stick-on note pad.

    Sometimes they will take a note for someone else, and pass the stick-on note to a colleague (now 2 people have seen your brand).

    All for a lot less than the price of a cup of coffee.
